New to the TCG new age!

Hey everyone, sorry if this is not oosted in the appropriate area but im a old school veteran of the pokemon world coming from an era who ran hain maker decks, so there is a lot of nee cards and stuff. I purchased a couple starter decks from the ancient origin set as well as 2 booster boxes to kinds kick me off a bit, i have a deck that i have been adding to and i am struggling to beat some of these other decks like the one with vespiqueen and discarding all those cards. Were should i begin, i dont want to copy cat a championship deck but i need a starting point please help!

You said you don't want to copy other players deck lists, but I think that's a great way to get into competitive play. Seeing what cards people are actually playing with, and seeing some example deck builds is a great way to get a feel for the art of the deck building. And to this end, we have a lot of resources for newer players. You should check out the Deck Garage; it's a sub forum where users are free to post their own deck lists to improve their decks with the collective knowledge of the community. You can post a list there if you want. Also the Metagame Deck Discussion sub forum has threads for discussing some of the more popular decks that are out there. That might also be good to check out. What kind of deck do you have in mind?
