Newb here, question about PTCGO and decks

How would I go about getting a deck for PCTGO? Like I want to play a darkrai hammer time deck on PCTGO, but I don't want to buy booster packs to get everything. Is there a way to just straight up buy a deck on PCTGO?

Basically I'd like to buy a top tier deck without having to buy a bunch of booster packs for PCTGO is there any way to do this?

Sorry if this is a silly question, I'm new to to Pokemon card game :)

Not really, but you can redeem codes and trade packs for actual cards. Five codes would probably get you a Darkrai, and you can probably trade for the Sableyes and Hammers. Also, they added a feature that rewards you for logging on every day; one of the rewards is five booster packs. You could pull an Ultra Rare to trade. The codes from the Darkrai tins unlock the promo Darkrai on the game as well.

Darn, okay thanks. How do I go about finding people to trade codes for certain cards?
Also when you trade codes is it just based on honor system or what? Like they give me the card first then I give them the code or I give codes then they give card?
 
People usually advertise on the chat that they have X for trade and to PM then an offer. Most of them will accept codes; about half will actually prefer codes. Once you've found someone to trade with, find their name in the trade tab, and send them an offer. Put your packs into the left side of the trade menu, and put the card you want from your trading partner into the right side. (You're partner has to mark the cards as 'For Trade' for you to be able to see them.)
 
Thanks Mora, just one more question, how do I find the value of cards?
Like how do I find how many codes an eviolite for example would be worth?
 
You can use the prices of the actual cards to get an idea of what it's worth. Stupid people on there will try to rip you off and argue that since they are not real cards, they're not worth as much, but their logic is flawed. I'd say an Eviolite would be worth ~1 or less. I'd say 1 pack = ~2.00-2.50. I usually trade like 8-10 for some EX. You might want to get other's opinion on the approximated value of a pack.
 
Keep in mind when Mora is referring to codes for trading- its actually online booster packs that the codes are used for. Dont EVER send someone a booster CODE in good faith that they will trade you what youre asking for. Just a tip.
