newbie question about acronyms

so in deck threads,

4-2-2? what is this?
4-basic, 2 - stage 1 or 2, 2 - level x?

I'm pretty lost, any info would be great Thank you.

This would mean 4 basics, 4 stage one, 2 stage two.

4-4-2-1

This would mean 4 basics, 4 stage one, 2 stage two and one lv.X.


You would usually put the highest stage of evolution in front of the line, for example;

Torterra Lv.X 4-4-3-1

Would mean;

Turtwig
Turtwig
Turtwig
Turtwig
Grotle
Grotle
Grotle
Grotle
Torterra
Torterra
Torterra
Torterra Lv.X
