Ruling Newbie Question: I don't understand prize cards.

I'm just learning to play, so bear with me.

I understand from the rules that come with the game that you put down 6 prize cards at the start of the game, but the rules aren't very clear to me at all. Could someone answer a couple questions?

1. Are the 6 prize cards part of your 60 card deck?

2. How are prize cards selected? Do you choose them before the match strategically, or are they just randomly pulled out of your deck when beginning the match?

1) Yes

2) No. You draw 6 cards from the top of your deck and put in prize pile after you draw 7 cards. You can't select cards to be your prizes; in other words, you don't know what cards taken from your deck as prizes.

This is in the rulebooks if you have them. All the rules to learning to play are in there.

After you draw your hand of 7 cards and have at least 1 basic pokemon then you draw 6 cards from the top of your deck (without looking at them) and place them face down in the designated prize card zone. Each time you knock out your opponent's pokemon you draw a prize card (or 2 prize cards if it's an Ex pokemon).
