Yep. I'm new, and I haven't got much of a clue on how to play. I read PB's guide, and I understand the basics.

My sister and I both want to start playing, but we don't know how to make a deck or anything. If it's not too much trouble could anyone give us two good begginer's deck and give us some strategic advice? ^^' Neither of us know much about what we're getting into.... Thanks.

I don't know what to even look for in a deck or anything :p Yay for being clueless. Once we both get the basics, we'll be making our own (although horrible) decks, themed around pokemon we like (which for my sister is just skitties and other girlish pokemon but for me is anything that's strong and pikachu :p) So thanks again for helping us get started :3

A begginer's deck eh ? You could try out t2K or t2B, t2K stands for turn 2 Kircketune, and t2B is turn 2 Banette. The reason it's called that is because the pokemon in deck can usually start killing by turn 2. an example of t2K is just to swarm with the krickets and deal 80 for 2 energy, whereas Banette needs you to discard one to deal 80. The strategies are actually very simple.

I think I get it. So basically it's just to keep on attacking with one pokemon? or one kind? Wow I think I just made my self look stupid (or maybe your av is just confusing me XD)

Not stupid at all. Turn 2 decks are simple because they only require ONE Pokemon line, and thus, no intricate strategies (Like with Gardevoir-Gallade) are needed.

Ok. I get it (that is pretty simple). It's just a deck with a pokemon lineup made entirely of one pokemon. (wow after having that repeated 4 times I finally got in in my skull XD)

Now that I look at the Bannete card I see that's it's very effective. You can just recycle your Bannete cards as long as you have enough Shuppets to support it. (right?) And Kricketune's attack is better depending on how many of it's kind are put into play.

Ok is there any other good strategies? What's a Gardevoir-Gallade strategy(my guess is that it's long, so for your sake you can shorten it up and just say the basics rather than write a whole paper :p

Gardy/Gallade's strategy is to use your opponent's supporters with Gardy and flip prizes to win with Gallade. :f
It's a rather complicated deck though, which was my last deck that I used before quiting. :p

if your a newbie i would say buy a pre-made deck and 3-4 packs of cards from the same set (i would advise to buy great encounters = GE)

Thanks. You guys are awesome :D (Now to convince my mom to allow me to buy the card..... XD I'll get them anyway :p) Oh well. I guess now I should just play and get experience and um.... yeah XD

If I were you I would go any buy a couple of theme (pre-constructed) decks, one for you and one for your sister. You can battle each other, then swap decks and so forth. Theme decks are also really awesome because they come with a rule book, a play mat thing and some damage counters.

I would also advise buying some boosters. You would be best off getting them from the Diamond and Pearl set (so Diamond and Pearl, Mysterious Treasures, Secret Wonders and Great Encounters), as the older ones will be rotated out (banned) from competitive play after Worlds, which is in August this year. Perhaps if you buy 2 boosters from each you can start replacing cards in the theme deck and making it better.

Another thing which can be really good if you are serious about getting into the Pokemon TCG is buying a booster box. They cost a fair bit (I don't know about US currency, maybe about $130, somebody else can help me out here) but have 36 boosters, or 360 cards. This will have basically all the cards you need to beef up your deck a bit.

And of course, if you have any questions at all, by all means post them on this forum and hopefully somebody can help. I have learned so much just by browsing around, reading threads, checking stuff out etc.

Last but not least, HAVE FUN!!!

There is an alternate route, which leads through EBay. If you settled on a deck, you could follow these steps:

1 - Post your theoretic decklist on the Beach and ask for fixes.
2 - Look into these fixes and ask how it'd help you. The friendly people will gladly respond.
3 - Once the decklist seems to be very good, buy the single cards on eBay.
4 - ???
5 - Profit.

Sorry, couldn't resist.

You are not allowed to ask for a decklist straight on the board. But you can always PM certain members who might just be kind enough to provide you with something to start with.
