Ninetales Deck

Hey Guys

I'm trying to build a new deck to play at my local store. The weird thing they have going there is that they have their own format that they play there, they call it "Poke-Modern" where you can use cards from HG/SS Onwards.

I want to build a deck around the DEX Ninetails but not sure what are the best options. I was thinking something along the lines of

4 Vulpix
4 Ninetales
4 Foongus
3 Amoongus

4 Pokemon Catcher
1 Computer Search
3 Pokemon Collector
4 Professor Juniper
3 Junk Arm
4 PONT
4 Level Ball
3 Devolution Spray
1 Super Rod
4 Super Scoop Up

4 GRPD Blend Energy
6 (f) Energy

Some other stuff to fill the gaps?

This gets me to 56. Any other potential ideas, At the moment Darkrai EX and Mewtwo EX are heavily played at my store, are there maybe some answers to this I could add?

Not sure, hope to find some help here.. Thanks :)

There was actually a somewhat popular deck last format that used Amoonguss to inflict the status condition so that Ninetales could do a large amount of damage. Now we have Raticate Amoonguss, with the idea being to bring your opponent's Active down to critical HP, and then have Amoongus' posion damage finish the Pokemon off. Judging from the title of the thread, I think you would like the former better.

I would start by taking out the other Pokemon. They aren't exaxtly needed. Ninetales has a low attack cost, and Mew is just two easy prizes.

-13
-2 Raticate
-2 Rattata
-2 Dustox
-1 Cascoon
-2 Wurmple
-4 Mew EX

+11
+2 Ninetales
+2 Vulpix
+3 Amoonguss NXD
+4 Foongus NXD

Now on to the Trainers. You obviously don't need Rare Candy any more, and Collector becomes dead in your hand after you've already gotten set up. Posion Hypnotic Beam is a fun card, but the only advantage to using it over Amoonguss is that you can use it T1, which doesn't help since the earliest you can start attacking with Ninetales is T2. One or two might be fun to play around with, though. What Trainer you should include in your list is Devolution Spray; this card lets you reuse Amoonguss' Ability.

-4 Poison Hypnotic Beam
-3 Rare Candy
-1 Collector

+12
+4 Professor Oak's New Theory
+4 Level Ball
+3 Devolution Spray
+1 Super Rod

You also need more than four energies :p

+6 {R}

This should be a good start; I hope this was helpful.

RE: Ninetails Deck

Amoongusss DEX?

Once you drop it on the bench, you can inflict 2 status conditions onto your opponents defending pokemon allowing you to hit for 120 damage in one turn, as apposed to using Dustox and only dealiing solid damage every 2 turns.

I see you have Poison Hypnotic Beam and Virbank City Gym in the list which would be fine additions to the deck, but of course those card won't be out till february (hopefully) so for the time being, the most efficient way to deal multiple special conditions in one turn is Amoonguss. You can use Seeker (HGSS:Triumphant) and Super Scoop Up to reuse Amoonguss.

RE: Ninetails Deck

Thanks guy, awesome help!

I've edited the list, it definitely looks much better :)

Also does the deck really need 3 Collector and 4 Level Ball with only 15 Pokemon? Or is this pretty standard?

RE: Ninetails Deck

Since Level Ball searches out everything in the deck, there's no reason not to.

It my seem a bit odd but I tried running both Ratticate and Ninetales (Even Mew) and it worked out great! And with poision hypnotic spray coming out this deck could just make it to the teir 1 section. But i would advise if you do keep your current line up get rid of three catchers (you got four Ninetales dont forget!!)
