So I'm planning on getting a new DS, and giving my current DS Lite to my sister. I have two options: I could wait until Christmas or save up my money and get the DSi, or I could wait until my birthday and get the 3DS. Decisions, decisions. Any advice?

Discuss!

the 3DS its worth the wait cause its supposed to make most of the games actions in 3-D.

Ahh! Basically its either I could get the Nintendo DSi now/anytime between now and Christmas, or wait until MARCH and get the 3DS.

3DS. You'll be able to play B/W on it, so there's not much point in buying a DS now and then wanting to get the 3DS later as well.

dmaster out.

That's true, and you can't play Black/White on the DS/DSi?? o_O
Is it going to be made for the 3DS?

It's a DS game but 3DS can play DS games.

I figured. True I suppose it wouldn't hurt to wait the extra few months, especially since the real reason I'm getting the new DS is to utilize B/W Wi-Fi features, plus I want Animal Crossing 3D and Mario Kart 3D >_>

You can play B/W on ANY DS system. Sorry if I made that vague...the 3DS will be worth it IMO.

I would like to point out this statement, as you may or may not be confused by it. ALL 3DS have been confirmed to use 3D in some way. And to clear up other confusion, it will not change DS games, but it still will play them.

(Just thought I'd clear that up)

Anyway I recomend waiting for the 3DS it will have incredible capabilities.

Truthfully, I'd wait until at least September 29th to decide. We're finally getting details like cost and release date, though there might be feature announcments as well. If something like 3DSWare is announced, with backwards-compatibility with DSiWare, I'd definetely wait. If it doesn't have backwards-compatibility, you might consider getting a DSi first. There are many great games on DSiWare, if you're willing to lose any you own if you somehow break or lose your DSi.

I currently own a DS lite. Also, I'm pretty sure it has been confirmed that the 3DS has backwards compatibility (thank GOD). I'm going to wait for the 3DS. Heck, they said it should be 1st quarter 2011 or very late 2010. So it'll definitely be worth the wait ^_^ I just hope the price isn't through the roof.

It's been confirmed to have compatibility with DS games. But there hasn't been a mention of any download services, let alone backwards-compatibility for DSiWare yet. There has, however, been a trademark registered for 3DSWare. (Who knows if it'll be used.) And recently in an interview in Nintendo Power, Mr. Konno hints that DSiWare might be able to be transferable to 3DSes. Yay.

;P I don't even have a DSi, so it won't matter to me as much as it might to you or others, but interesting information nonetheless. Thanks!

I'm pretty sure Nintendo said that you would not be able to transfer your DSiware to the 3DS.

Just keep your old DSi (People who have them) Its a small portable game system, I'm sure you could find a home for it.

You're better off waiting for the 3DS in case there are some 3DS exclusive games not compataible with the DSI. I don't know if stuff like the new Mario Kart and Ocarina of Time remake will work on DSI for example.
