Ruling NOOB QUESTION! MEMORY BERRY (CG)

I have a question about memory berry regarding its effect. Let's say I have an evolved Bastiodon, BUT have only 2 BASIC metal energies attached to it. If I attach the memory berry to it and use HARD FACE will the opponent's attack still be reduced by 20? It says "damage done to shieldon" but people say to read "shieldon" as "this pokemon". Please help me out, I'm a noob.

Indeed, the attack is known as "self-reffering", simply meaning that if you can subsititute the text with "this card" and it still makes sense, it is self-reffering. So yes, it would reduce the 20 damage.
