blaines charizards' roaring flames attack question...

I was rummaging the site for old cards i would like to see and buy sometime and i saw this card but did not quite understand the attacks requirements...

its written like this:

[FIRE] Roaring Flames

*discard all [FIGHTING] energy cards attached to Blaine's Charizard. If all energy cards attached to Blaine's Charizard provide 2 [FIRE] energy, discard all of them. this attack does 20 damage plus 20 more damage for each [FIRE] energy discarded in this way.

20+

(CAN SOME ONE TELL ME WHAT IT MEANT)

http://www.pokebeach.com/sets/gymchallenge.html

It's a misprint. A lot of cards from back then had misprint fighting symbols where there should be fire symbols. One of which was Dark Vileplume.

BUT COULD SOME ONE TELL ME WHAT DAMAGE CAN IT REALLY DO...
since you told me that the fighting symbole should be a fire... then what happens if you used the attack... i still don't understand it since it is still confusing to read...

I need help badly...

Just do the 20 damage and add 20 for each fire energy(not fire energy card) discarded.

For example, if you discard a holon castform the attack would do 60 damage.
20 + (20 x 2)

That is an example of what this text meant: If all energy cards attached to Blaine's Charizard provide 2 [FIRE] energy, discard all of them.

LET's DO MATH HERE!!!

20+ <---BASE damage of roaring flames

*let's say i discard 4 fire energy cards attached to it...

and damage would be???

thanks now i get it...

what if i follow the instruction on the card that includes the fighting energy what would be its effect...

does the fighting energy count for damage increase or is it just gonna be discarded...

I really like the card and i want to buy it some time this week because of the art work and i'm planning to use it somehow...

that is why i'm wondering what would happen if i desregard the miss print and follow the instruction said on the card...

I'm opento ideas of how playing the game is and i'm not restricting my self much of the rules that is why i want to know waht would happen if i follow the requirement...

Like said in the posts above, it was a misprint, like empoleon LvX´s pokepower(that was printed as a pokebody).
That fighting energy symbol was meant to be a fire energy symbol.
Play the card as if it said:

*discard all [FIRE] energy cards attached to Blaine's Charizard. If all energy cards attached to Blaine's Charizard provide 2 [FIRE] energy, discard all of them. this attack does 20 damage plus 20 more damage for each [FIRE] energy discarded in this way.

let's start it again... ignoring the mis print that it is supposed to be a fire energy what would happen if i disregard the misprint...

The card was errated, so it never was played the way it is written with the fighting energy symbol..

Otherwise the card would be very unplayable, unless you use rainbow, double rainbow, scramble, those kinds of energy cards.

OKAY...

what if there was a fighting energy card attached to it and a fire energy ... does it make it playable and what is the damage dealt if it attacks...

Misprint, or the fact that it still only gives you a 2-1 ratio. Shouldn't really matter if you actually feel like playing it.

Actually that card is not a misprint. You can either use fighting or fire energy cards to power the attack but if you use fire type energy then the attack does more damage since it is a fire Pokemon.:) A lot of people get confused of this card but it is not a misprint. I don't think anyway but I could be wrong.:) EDIT Actually I can see this card played either way because if fire energy is used then I could see the extra damage and using fighting energy means you would not get the extra damage.:)

I would just play it with either fighting or fire energy. but for the extra damage use fire energy.
If the Pokemon has less HP than the damage listed use fighting energy and if it has more then use fire energy for the extra damage. If I were to use that card that is what I would do The card is a misprint but I think it is the hight weight mistake but I am not sure.:) EDIT the card is a misprint but the attack is correct. The misprint is the word energy on the first line. The "E" is not capitalized after the fighting symbol but the rest is correct though. Last edited 11:40 pm PST.:)

== BLAINE'S CHARIZARD (Gym: ChallengeExpansion)

* Blaine's Charizard has a Fighting energysymbol on it instead of a Fire symbol in the first attack [Roaring Flames] in thefirst sentence of the text. That is a misprint, it should have been a fire energysymbol and the card should be played as if it was a fire symbol. (Oct 5, 2000 WotCChat Announcements & Q46 & Q98)

The official ruling. So it should be fire ALWAYS no matter what it says on the card.

@mewstor
could you give me the site for that announcement if there is a site that is...

@xxashxx
i think i am required to discard the fighting and the fire no matter how i would want to attack... if idisregard the misprint of energy symbol(that every one says was a misprint). But i also think the card was released the same in the japanese version it also has a fighting energy symbol...

Actually the Pokemon UK. site has every error card and it is the one with yellow letters and a red border. I got there a lot.:) I don't remember the URL but when I find the page again I will post it in this post.:)
