I need people opinions on whether collecting an entire set of Team Rockets (old) and having 1 1st edition card is an entire set to a collector or is it better to have a whole set of either 1st or unlimited, if that make sence.... discuss

Dont understand to well...but the best is to have the entire 1st edition set. its so expensive....

The first edition cards are more valuable to collectors because they are rarer than the normal ones. It would be better to try to get a set with all first editions, but if you can't, try to get as many as you can.

what im saying is it better to have an entire set of one type, whether it be first ed or unlimited

Unlimited packs are cheap but you will pay an upwards of $10.00 or more for the same number of cards that have a 1st edition stamp on them. I have a few 1st editions that I got from my friends. Go for 2nd editions if you can. The are the same price as unlimited editions. They have a 2 with a Pokeball right over the 2.:)

That would be Base 2. Base 2 is a reprint set of Base 1 and Jungle (likely done so the selected cards from those sets could be used in tournament play again). Team Rocket cards are not included in the Base 2 printing.

I think it's really more of a matter of personal preference. I doubt that one 1st Ed card would either bring a rise or drop in the value of the set. Personally, I'm fond of the consistancy, but it's not tough (nor expensive) to just pick up the extra unlimited card just to be sure.

Yes, i believe its better to have a one type set, than one mixed. Collectors probably search for one type of set or another, or for both, but never for a collage of unlimited/1st edition. they look for 1 edition singles, but the rarer ones .

I have noticed it with all sets. All the 1st edition packs are $10.00 or higher and a 1st edition deck I think is $15.00 or higher. A whole 1st edition set is around $180.00 whereas a unlimited set is $150.00.:)

Check eBay. Other than 1st Ed Base 1 packs, no 1st Ed pack is worth more than $5. There is no such thing as a 1st Ed [theme] deck.

The prices on most older sets (particularly Team Rocket) aren't that high and the price difference between the two sets is proportionally larger. We are talking about a single card, not a whole set.

When it comes to selling the set, he's not going to get $81 rather than $80 for having one 1st Ed card. They aren't that hard to find (I have a small box of at least 500 [mint] 1st Ed Team Rocket cards alone). There was an eBay seller selling 500 for $10 (Buy It Now) recently.

It is singles only? I thought it was for packs and set prices. Sorry I did not realize that it was just a single card thread. I have not seen American prices. When I was in Canada for 8 years all the packs were that high. I did not even think about American prices when I posted last time sorry.:)

I don't think there's a 1st Ed Theme Deck anywhere in the world.

On eBay.ca it's pretty much the same thing price wise. He was saying that he had a complete Team Rocket set and ONE of them was 1st Ed, and asking if that was a positive, negative, or neutral thing.

Oh I see now. Thanks for your help. I did not realize that there were not 1st edition theme decks. I wonder why not.:)
