A:Yes, you can BUT only for the cards that have been reperinted(example: Crystal Shard)

what he means is the old Ruby/Sapphire, and sandstorm.
Only if the card appears in the current modified set (with the major exception of Mysterious fossil) you may use the older version, BUT you have to play with the most recent wording of it (DRE/Dark/Metal etc)
