I recently became involved with POP with my kids and it seems there's quit a bit of "grey" areas in the game such as old rules verses new rules , banned cards and some markers...
1. resistance/weakness for instance if it does not state a -20 or whatever and it's blank is it "double" or "10" ?
2. if a player has no basics to start he shuffles and re draws , if both have none they each take up to 2 more to find a basic if not re shuffle ... I've heard so many variations of this what is the real deal??
3. what is a "shock wave "marker?? is it like a poision marker?

It means that pokemon does not have any resistance...

I don't really understand this question...

No, it's a marker caused by Tyranitar ex δ & the only way you can heal it is by evolving, devolving or by using Tropius δ...

for number 1 if it is just the type symbol in weakness it is 2 times in resistance it would be -30
for number 2 if one person does not get a basic on the initial draw that person shuffels their hand into their deck and draws 7 cards and their oponnent get to draw another card, if both people do not get a basic in the initial draw then both people shuffel their hands into their deck and draw 7 cards, no one gets to draw 1 extra.

If a pokemon has (Fire) listed as a weakness with no modifier then the pokemon takes x2 damage from Fire.
If a pokemon has (Fire) +20 listed as a weakness then he takes +20 damage.
If there is nothing listed under weakness then it isn't weak to anything.

Players shuffle and then draw 7 cards.
Case 1 - both players have a basic and the game starts
Case 2 - neither players have a basic so both shuffle again and draw 7 cards
Case 3 - one player has a basic and the other does not - the player with the basic lays down his starter & prize cards then he gets to pick a single extra card from his deck. This can happen several times. If one player fails to get a basic 3 times in a row his opponent can draw a single card each time.

A "Shockwave" marker is kind of like a poison maker with several important differences. Poison markers can only be on the active pokemon (the one up top whom you attack with). If you retreat a poisoned pokemon or evolve him the poison maker goes away. Shockwave markers can be on benched pokemon. The only way to get rid of them is to evolve (or play a card like Tropius d). If your Stage 2 active, who can't evolve gets shockwaved then it's going to be hard to get rid of it.

Tyranitar ex d is the only pokemon who can place Shockwave markers.

thank you that info is most helpful.....

so on the first turn what may and may not be done...
for example can a player on the first turn use a supporter card or tool ect. ?

if a player forgets ....oh say to......draw at the start of his turn or forgets to take a prize.... is it just that players loss?

if a playe gets confussed or asleep ...it is required to roll between turns, what if that player forgets?

1st Turn

Player going 1st - May draw a card, attach energy, and lay down basic pokemon. May not play any supporter, trainer, stadium, etc. May not evolve any pokemon.

Player going 2nd - May draw a card, attach energy, lay down basic pokemon, and play supporter, trainers, etc. He may not evolve a pokemon, unless he uses a trainer like Rare Candy.

If you ever make a mistake in game or your opponent does call a judge over. They will rule based on the situation. In generall though for small stuff like forgetting to draw a card usually you just get a warning are are allowed to draw a card. Sometimes you don't even get the warning. Similarly if you forget to roll for waking up that's a pretty correctable mistake. It's rare to get game losses for that kind of stuff.

On the other hand some mistakes that can't be "undone" like shuffling your hand into your deck by mistake might result in a game loss.

Note that when Confused you don't roll unless you attack, not between turns. Confustion only goes away when you evolve, retreat, or play a card that gets rid of it. If you forget to roll and attack anyway the judge will probably try to "unwind" events. That might be easy ... mistake cought mid way through your opponent's turn and he just has to remove damage from his active pokemon ... hard ... pull KOed pokemon out of the discard pile ... or impossible. Generally the longer you wait to tell a judge and the harder it is to undo the mistake the more you will be penalized.

By the way, have you looked here yet?

shock-wave and imprison markers can only be removed by tropius 'delta' I think, not evolving and de-evolving
ok...I STILL watch this video whenever Im confused Ill admit it :p its very helpful

hmmmmm. ok another question....(I'll have plenty...lol)

Ok the last few matches I played my opponent used "baby" (pre-evolution) cards . whats the actual rule about having to flip "heads" to attack? True there was a poke body that stated that to attack you must first flip a heads but I was told by other players that you had to flip anytime you wish to attack a baby poke mon. with that in mind ... does this rule change if the baby is on the bench?

the only thing baby pokes are usefull for now is starters and advantages to evoes pokemon :p
