As you can tell from the title, i'm doing a single challenge. :p

This will be of pokemon platinum, and i've already decided that the chimchar line will be my single. I need to use a starter so i don't get irked that it's not a 'true' single challenge.

I'll also be playing as the female character because... well i do actually have a reason - I don't like immersion in video games. :p

I'm naming him/her charcoal. sorry for not letting you decide anything, but i want to start this right away.

/me grabs 3ds

i'll be using hm slaves btw.

RE: Omega Soul's Single Challenge

Part 1

I boot the game up and professor rowan does a speech, tells me stuff, yadda yadda you know the drill with pokemon games. I then accidentally hit the 3ds on my chair and the game freezes.

...Attempt 2!

Same thing, but now I manage to actually set up my character. I'm named Omega if you care. My rival's named Bob for reasons unknown to even me. I rush through the beggining and eventually get charcoal. He's naive natured, not the best, but it dosn't cripple him badly.

I actually lose the rival fight (probably should have used leer a little bit.) I get home, tell mum, and the next day go to the lake with bob. We meet Goku on a bad hair day Cyrus, and then we get the pokedex and the actual game starts.

I catch my hm slaves, Banjo the bidoof and kazooie the starly...

yeah...

It actually took AGES for me to get a male bidoof. it was like they all commited suicide during the mating season cos the couldn't take the pressure. Or male bidoof just splode like voltorbs. Charcoal somehow learned how to breathe fire after mauling a little kid's starly's face off. I then beat the rest of the trainers and advanced to Jublife city. I beat the trainers up north and the ones in the trainer's school, (not to mention obtaining a town map and poketech) and i was ready to fight bob.

He leads with starly, which gets annihalated with a critical ember, which is good because i need attack to beat bob's piplup. The piplup growls, but i taunt then leer. it's then just sort of a very slow - paced boxing match that charcoal wins. Bob cries a bit and heads for the gym.

BTW, let me know if you want longer or shorter parts. This didn't take long, so i'm fine with doing longer.

RE: Omega Soul's Single Challenge

OPCs are not hard at all. Eventually you will be so overleveled that you will one-shot everything. Try to restrict yourself in some way other than the amount of Pokemon you use, or you may find this challenge a waste of time.

The fact that I will OHKO everything is one of the reasons why i'm doing this. :p

I'm also planning to do a different challenge alongside this, so if you're right I can drop this and just do that one.

RE: Omega Soul's Single Challenge

Please can you add Platinum into the title so people can see more quickly what game you are playing?

Good luck with it; Infernape was always one of my favourite starters :D

Part 2

I defeat some trainers with kricketots, demons from the caves zubats, machops and psyducks. After beating the machop kid, Charcoal looked like he was gonna splode but thanfully he just evolved. (i'm making this sound like this is a blind playthrough but i swear it isn't.) Now charcoal can punch things which is WAY more effective.

I head inside the cave, get given rock smash, then get into two battles with some campers. The boy had a starly and a shinx and the girl had a bidoof that got Charcoal to lvl. 15. I got into the town, and quickly went to the mines (but picked up a few items) and beat everyone in there including some wild pokemon. Charcoal actually got up to level 17.

I come back, ready to fight roark. I fight the trainers, and get to lvl. 18. I then fight roark.
He leads with geodude, which is OHKO'd with a critical mach punch. (lucky, i know)
Onix survives a mach punch, but uses stealth rock instead of actually trying to kill me.
Cranidos gets OHKO'd. I level up again and teach rock smash to banjo. Let the hm slaveness begin :D

I leave with my new badge, listen to bob yell at me for about 15 seconds (that's how long his conversations last) then head back to jublife. Me and lucas obviously end up fighting some team galactic grunts. Time for another detailed fight! :D

Charcoal mach punches the stunky, taking about 3/4s of its health away. Turtwig uses faceplant attack on the glameow. stunky poisons charcoal, but instead of logically retaliating, he kills the glameow first. Turtwig dosn't quite kill the stunky, so charcoal does get vengeance.

If you're wondering why part 2 is out so early, i just have a lot of free time this weekend. Hope you enjoyed!

I've removed some posts as they are off-topic. If you want to make a request to the person doing the playthrough about things such as what characters get used then we would prefer that you do this via private or profile messages, as otherwise it can clog up the thread with messages that aren't related to updates.

Unfortunately, i've decided that PMJ was right: i'm simply not enjoying this. I will be doing a different one which I hope will be more successful.
