I can't be the only one severely irritated by all the whining about 'oh, my cards are useless, I quit!' going around on here and Pokegym.
Thing is, Pokemon has Rotations, like Magic. It is fact, and has been for a very long time now. Every year, bar one, has cut sets. People should know this happens and pre-empt it.
It was well known that CoL marked the end of the HS block and BW was designed for HGSS-On, both blocks being so much like Base-Fossil it isn't funny. Even if it was RR, SV or even ARC on, a hell of a lot of the most commonly used cards would go and I bet these people would still whine. Again, this game does rotate out sets to change up the game, it's part of it, should be expected and worked towards, not against.
Back when we didn't get a rotation, I seem to recall japan being DP on as well. We, at times, do copy Japan. HGSS-On was a fair bet.
HGSS is more than a year old now, I know they weren't spectacular when they came out because of the over powered ... 'stuff' that came before, from Gardy onwards, but they would be, and are becoming soon, the main block of the meta. Were people avoiding them? BW in Japan, aswell as their format and BW's rules, are about 4 months old. We knew what was coming.
There have been 4 months to move on to, or atleast start preparing for, HGSS block based format, even if it had 3/4ths or less of Platinum. There are still 2-4 months to prepare, depending on what happens. Also, pokemon's secondary market, in comparison to other games, especially while the format is still MD-on, is inexpensive for HGSS-on cards bar a few. Hell, as Primes are far more common than their LvX counterparts and Full Arts are just reprints, it naturally makes the game cheaper. This isn't YGO or Magic after all.
This might have sounded like a rant on the upcoming HGSS On rotation, but it happens every year, so much complaining, this one is just special because of the rut the game has been in since Gardy came out. Hell, DPPt sets in general. HGSS-on rolls back the game to pre-EX Series days.
