So this tournament was the day after the last one I wrote about, and I decided to go with "Luxchomp", which is Garchomp SV with Luxray GL. I enjoyed telling everyone I was playing luxchomp, and then they're like... wha...??? So yeah, onto the report!
Seniors
Garchomp SV/Luxray GL
4 Rounds, Top 2
Round 1 VS Fire Deck
I donked with ambipom G, trying to hide the fact that I was playing garchomp SV, and make them think I was playing actual luxchomp. Sorry about the donk, 1-0
Round 2 VS Salamence
This game, I got a fast start, and early on I killed her skitty, ruining the combo, since later game she discarded the second one with top accelerator. She kept discarding really crucial things with sally's power, like an uxie etc. She set up 2 salamences, but she couldnt one shot me since I kept returning her energies to her hand with my body, and I kept using gaurd claw. I two shotted all her salamences, and she had a hard time keeping up. I win when Im up I think 3 prizes. GG, 2-0
Round 3 VS Stealix/Metagross LA
This game was actually really close. I swarmed garchomp SVs, and kept using gaurd claw, rotating them out. Once after he attacked with stealix and I used the body to return a metal to his hand, I decided to use ambipom G to tail code a DCE to a benched uxie. All he could do was energy stream for 30 and no energies to attatch, so I KO'ed his stealix. He brought up metagross LA, and started doing some damage to some benched uxies. After he used his attack, I brought it back to the bench to extra comet punch wouldnt do 100 and only 50, and got a cheap kill. eventually, I took the rest of my prizes, but if he had hit 2 more of his flips for magnetic reversal, he may have won, but that would really be pushing his like since he already got heads on more than half of those flips. GG, 3-0.
So I'm extremely surprised that I was doing this well, since I only got the cards for this deck the day before, and had built it in the car ride home from yesterday's BR, making only a few changes. Next round, I had a very tough matchup against scizor prime, since I play only 3 basic energy.
Round 4 VS Curtis S with Scizor Prime Lock
I go into this match without too much confidence, but I do better than I expected. I dont remember this game too well, but I know I lost pretty bad.
Top 2 VS Curtis S with Scizor Prime Lock
This game, I decide to attack with luxray a lot since I play an energy gain, and with poke turns I am able to tank fairly well, but he ends up winning again.
Game 2 of Top 2
I remember this game alot better than the last two. I went aggro with luxray, attacking with nearly everything but garchomp. I used gabite's sand tomb attack to trap up his sableye for a few turns, but he got a SSU, ruining my plans of killing it with a crobat drop. Once Im down a few prizes, Im running out of resources since he used weavile to discard a poke turn I needed for luxray. I actually used gible's attack like 5 times, sand attack, to stall his scizor and it actually worked a few times. I killed a couple scizors, but then time was called. All he had was one scizor and a weavile with 2 SP dark energies attatched. If time hadn't been called, I could have won since I would kill the luxray and weavile, but he used weavile's attack to snipe for the sudden death prize. Both top two games this weekend were lost to time.. oh well, Im just surprised I got 2nd place with a deck I had never even played with at all.
Props:
dmaster (again) for letting me borrow a luxray X
Radar for running RDL Rage
Getting 2nd place
pulling a scizor prime, and a vileplume, although the scizor was kinda taunting me after losing to it.
Slops:
Radar for not ever getting to play a real game with RDL
Rod, Matt and Decker not being able to come the second day
Radar getting a first round loss, then a bye, then got donked, then had to leave early
Losing on time
So thanks for reading my report!
