1. Discuss the card in-and-of itself.
2. Discuss any possible combos.
3. Discuss how it will impact the format.

Pidgeot (d) - Lightning/Steel - HP100
Stage 2 - Evolves from Pidgeotto

Poke-Body: Delta Sever
As long as Pidgeot has any Holon Energy attached, ignore all Poke-Powers on
either player's Pokemon that aren't "delta species".

[L][M][C] Rotating Claws: 50 damage. You may discard an Energy card
attached to Pidgeot. If you do, search your discard pile for a different Energy
card and attach it to Pidgeot.

Weakness: Lightning
Resistance: Fighting
Retreat: 1

Okay time for the next COTD! This time it’s Pidgeot from EX Holon Phantoms!

The Card:
He’s got a great type advantage, being Electric-Steel, which can really hurt someone with weakness.
He has an average amount of HP for a Stage 2 non-ex Pokemon, and a decent attack. But it’s his Pokebody, Delta Server, that really gets you, because as long as you have any Holon energies on Pidgeot you can shut off both players Pokepowers that aren’t Delta Species. That’s really good, because that shuts off your opponent’s Fire Red Leaf Green Pidgeot, Magcargo, Dark Dragonite, Dark Dragonair, and many others.
It’s attack is all right, but that’s not what he is going to be used for. It’s called Rotating Claws, and for a Lightning, Metal, and Colorless energy you can do 50 and if you want to, can discard an energy attached to Pidgeot and attach an energy card from your discard to Pidgeot. This can easily get his Holon energies from the discard to active his Pokebody. That’s all right because it can activate his Pokebody fairly easily. The sad part of it is that it only does 50 damage for 3 energies, one being a special, which is really bad.
His Retreat Cost is average, being 1, but not near as nice as the Fire Red Leaf Green Pidgeot, who had free Retreat Cost. He’s weak to Lightning, which is pretty easy to guess, and he’s Resistant to Fighting, which is really easy to find out, as well.

Advantages:
Pidgeot is amazing because it can shut off so many Pokepowers, combos, and decks. He’s gonna see a lot of play decks that do not use Pokepowers, but there are very little of those around. I would recommend him in a deck that has brute force like Rock Lock, because it’s a very competitive deck, and it doesn’t use any Pokepowers at all. Unless you use Jirachi DX, but you wouldn’t usually have Jirachi DX out when Pidgeot was out unless you need to use him as a wall. Then you could simply put Pidgeot up and retreat him, usually getting rid of his Holon energy.
His attack is good, but it’s hard to get out all the energies you’ll need for him. But its effect is also very cool, because it can get a Holon energy from the discard and will allow him to keep on using his Pokebody, Delta Server.

Disadvantages:
Pidgeot is very good, but it actually does have some disadvantages. His Pokebody shuts off your own Pokepowers, even at the cost of a Holon energy, which will almost always be a Holon GL. He also has a large Retreat Cost, compared to his previous form’s Retreat cost.
His attack, without the effect, is horrible. And even with the effect, if you don’t have any Holon energies in the discard, it’s completely worthless. I mean if you have Metal, Lightning, and a Colorless energy I’d be expecting my card to do about 80 damage or something. But, instead Rotating Claws does 50 damage! As you can see, its energy cost is very hard to get out, and then to do 50 damage, I mean that’s not very good by my opinion. His body is shut off by Battle Frontier, which means that he can be almost worthless if that’s out. Plus he is a very hard card to add to a deck, from my point of view.
He also has a bad Lightning Weakness, which means prey for ZRE and Zap-turn-dos decks.

Analysis:
His body is perfect, so nothing to say there, except to make sure that you get out a Holon energy on him as fast as you can. His attack is horrible, so try to put a Strength charm or something onto him so he can do more damage.
If you opponent has out Battle Frontier make sure that you get out another stadium as fast as possible so you can use his Pokebody again. Also watch out for the Latios/Latias combo that will shut off your Pokebody so you can’t use Pidgeot’s ability. But an easy way to look out for the Latios/Latias combo is to use Pow! Hand Extension and Pokemon Reversal to bring them up and KO them as fast as possible.

Combos:
Now since Pidgeot hasn’t come out yet, it’s gonna be hard to determine what good deck combos to use him in. Most delta decks would be able to squeeze him in, like using Mewtwo DS to get his energies on him then attack with Retractable Claws and use Delta Server. He would also be good in a Mercury deck, which currently is a mini-archetype, after the set rotation goest out, or even right now. I also stated previously to use him in a 1-1-1 line in Rock Lock. Many combos will probably be shown in the future when future sets come out. I can’t wait to use him at the Pre-release and in the future.

How it will affect the game:
I think it will really affect the game if we can find a way to use him in a deck. Delta decks, Mercury, and Rock Lock are perhaps way we can use him. I can’t wait to see him used in a combo that is really good.

Overall
I think that he is a very nice card, but his attack is very hard to accept. He is hard to put into decks, since he shuts off your own Pokepowers and he’s a Stage 2. I’m gonna give Pidgeot HP a 6.5/10

Hope I helped you and see you guys next time. Cheers!

The next COTD Review is Pidgeot from EX Holon Phantoms.

Pidgeot
This Pidgeot has 100 HP which I guess is pretty standard for a stage 2 pokemon that is not an ex. He is a Lightning/Metal type so he can take advantage of Metal energies, however I wouldn't waste any Metal energies on Pidgeot if you have something else in your deck that can also use the Metal energies. Pidgeot is weak to lightning which is not a suprise since he is a flying pokemon. He has resistance to fighting which is also obvious. He has one retreat cost which is to high. His PokeBody shuts off all PokePowers on both sides of the field if he has a Holon Energy attached to him. Pidgeot's attack does 50 damage for a Lightning, Metal, and Colorless energy, and you may discard an energy card attached to Pidgeot and search your discard pile for a different energy card and attach it to him.

Advantages
In the current Modified Format I think that Pidget could be useful because it can shut off (FRLG) Pidgeot, Magcargo, Dragtrode decks, and especially EX's with PokePowers like Blastoise ex, Meganium ex, and Feraligatr ex just to name a few. It can also take advantage of Metal energies.

Disadvantages
Weakness to lightning is not good especially in the current Modified Format with ZRE and Metanite. The one retreat cost is way to high for a Pidgeot. The attack is so horrible for the energy cost and it being a stage 2. His PokeBody shuts off PokePowers on your side of the field that are not Delta type.

Analysis
I think the Pidgeot will be used only because of it's PokeBody, it will be used quite a bit at this years Worlds. The one deck that this Pidgeot will work really good against is BSL because it shuts off the (FRLG) Pidgeot and of course Blastoise ex. To get rid of his weakness to Lightning just attach a Protective Orb to him. After the sets get rotated out it will be interesting to see if Pidgeot will be played more or less.

Possible Combos
I don't see any combos as of right now, however when 4 sets get rotated out after this years Worlds, I can see maybe a 1-1-1 line of Pidgeot in an Espycham deck and a 2-1-2 line in the Delta Tyrannitar/Salamence deck in place of the Magcargo line.

Rating
In the current Metagame I will give it a 7.5/10 because it shuts down the search engines in most pokemon decks and it really stops BSL the best deck in the game right now. The only trouble is finding a deck it can work with.

Hey folks this is my 3rd review as a Pokebeach Strategist.
Pidgeot Delta

Card Analysis

Todays card is Pidgeot delta. First off it has 100 hp which is average for a non EX stage 2 pokemon. Pidgoet has a Weakness to lightning, which can be VERY bad with the new release of EX:Holon Phantom. It also has a resistance to fighting, which is great since there are a lot of tournament winning fighting based decks nowadays.
Now onto its Pokebody, Delta Sever states:
"As long as Pidgeot has any Holon Energy attached, ignore all Poke-Powers on either player's Pokemon that aren't "delta species". This can be very nasty since A LOT of decks rely on Pokepowers. But the only drawback is that it must have a holon energy attached to it, other than that, its great.
Now onto its attack, Rotating Claws. Rotating Claws states:"50 damage. You may discard an Energy card attached to Pidgeot. If you do, search your discard pile for a different Energy card and attach
it to Pidgeot." This attack isn’t really that great especially with the energy cost. Im sure some people can find away to abuse rotating claws but it definitely won't be very powerful.

COMBOS

1. Mercury: You could definitely tech Pidgeot Delta into this. Right now Mercury isn't really that strong, but with Pidgeot D it could be.

2. Basically any Delta deck that  ONLY relies on Delta Pokemon powers.

OVERALL

Pidgeot can be used to shut down many decks like LBS,Ludicargo,etc...but, you must use 1 turns energy attachment to make it useful*Points taken off* The attack is not great, I mean 3 for 50 and 2 of them have to be specific energy . Not good in my opinion.
I give it a 6/10.. *SIDE NOTE*People really hyped up this card like they do for most sets, but I don't see it as a good card.

Today we shall look at out first non-ex review, Pidgeot δ. Basically Pidgeot δ has 100HP, weakness to lightning, and resistance to fighting, which are normal for Pidgeot δ. Yet, there are three things that caught my eyes on this card. First of all, Pidgeot δ is metal and lightning dual type pokemon. It is great to have a lightning type pokemon since nowadays most powerful cards such as Blastoise ex, Zapdos ex and Pidgeot are weak against lightning. Secondly, of course is its Delta Reserve poke-Body. Delta Reserve states that if there is any holon energy attached to Pidgeot δ, all Poke-powers (including ex) in play cannot be used. Thus, powerful searchers such as Pidgeot, Magcargo and powerful pokemons such as Blastoise ex, Typlosion ex, Electrode ex and Gengar will be locked by Delta Reserve. In other words, LBS and Scizorgross decks will be totally locked while most of other decks will be slowed down without aids from Pidgeot and Magcargo. Furthermore, getting out a holon energy should not be a problem if you put around 6 in your deck. Lastly, having a retreat cost makes people think twice before they plan to use it. They think one retreat cost might be a burden to Pidgeot δ. In my opinion; however, it can be useful. I will discuss about this in its attack later. Next, we shall look at Pidgeot δ’s attack, Rotating Claws. Recall that Rocket’s Scizor also has Rotating Claws attack and both of them do 50damages. So, Rotating Claws for 50 damages is pretty standard here. Hence, the effect from this attack helps Delta Server a lot. For example, if Pidgeot δ has no Holon energy, Rotating Claws can switch one energy on Pidgeot δ with a holon energy in discard pile. The tricky part is here, let say you have a pokemon with poke-power plus two Pidgeot δ which one is active and another is benched. Then a holon energy is attached on the active Pidgeot δ. So what you do is you switch active Pidgeot δ with benched Pidgeot δ (without any holon energy) by discard holon energy which Pidgeot’s body will shut off in the same time. Now, you can use the poke-power. After that, you attack with new the Pidgeot δ and switch one energy on it with the holon energy discarded. As this process continues, only you can use poke-power, but your opponent cannot. Besides, you also can switch with metal energy in discard pile to reduce damages.

In the following, I will discuss about its combo. If you are planning to go with the strategy that I stated above, just choose pokemon with powerful poke-power. Well, of course, with low attack cost as well since you need to discard an energy card to retreat Pidgeot δ. Besides that, there are some people who try to include Pidgeot δ in metanite deck. Others might think it is nearly impossible because three stages two in a deck is hard to establish. There is a gym card; however, called Holon Lake which allows δ Pokemon to search their deck for a δ Pokemon. I am sure that the setup can be faster with the help from Holon Lake. Other than that, it also goes great with Jynx UF and Wobbuffet LM. The strategy is very straight forward, use Jynx to attack while Wobbuffet and Pidgeot δ are there to increase defending pokemon’s retreat cost and locks poke-power. As you can see, Pidgeot δ it itself can stand in the battle field alone. Therefore, the combos following were made to counter some popular decks in current metagame. Firstly, Kabutops from Legend Maker can be a great partner with Pidgeot δ. For instance, Steelix ex has resistance to lightning in LBS deck. Nevertheless, it has weakness to fighting as well. Kabutops’s Extra Claws able to deal 160 damages to Steelix ex. In the meantime, Delta Reserve will ensure that LBS player cannot energy rain on Steelix ex to perform powerful attack. Additionally, Kabutops LM and Pidgeot δ are great against Zap-turn-dos since most lightning pokemons are weak against Kabutops and Zapdos ex is weak against Pidgeot δ. Moreover, if you get a bad start in the early game, Mysterious Fossils are there to stall some time. Other than that, people might think that Battle Frontier locks Pidgeot δ. Yet, the main purpose to play with Pidgeot δ is to lock powerful search engines like Pidgeot RG. Hence, if opponent plays Battle frontier, they also cannot perform quick search. What's more is that nowadays there are many players who play with Pidgeot RG and Dragtrode, do you think that they will play Battle Frontier to lock themselves? Lastly, the most powerful deck between δ pokemon currently is Metanite. As a consequence, Primeape δ works with Pidgeot δ. If you think that Primeape δ’s 70 HP is too low, energy root can increase its HP by 20. For its first attack, Destroy, states that you discard a gym in play and it does 30 damages plus 30 more damages for the gym discarded. Thus, it solves Battle frontier problem. In other hand, Primeape δ does 120 damages to Metagross δ. Not enough? Primeape δ’s flame of rage does 10 plus 20 damages for each damage counter on it. In other words, it does maximum of 130 damages and 170 damages with energy root.

In short, a Pidgeot δ deck can be powerful as long as you able to setup fast and well in early turn. So it is wise to play Pidgeot δ with a powerful stage one pokemon or even Dustox ex. With Pidgeot δ itself, many decks are being slowed down and it can stands against powerful decks such as BLS, Scizorgross, Dragtrode, Queendoom and Zap-turn-dos. While the other pokemon which do not affected by Pidgeot δ are Metanite and other upcoming δ deck such as Flygon δ. Hence, it is up to you to find out another pokemon which is good enough to go with Pidgeot δ to stop all these decks. Anyway, I will not be shocked if Pidgeot δ turns out to be top deck in national or world. In the end, I will give Pidgeot δ an 8.5/10. I bet there will be more deck around Pidgeot δ in metagame soon. Until next time, cheers!!!

Hiya,

Okay…Today, The Card Of the day is Pidgeot d. It’s a very new card, just came out from the latest set, Holon Phantoms. We will discuss what possible combos and how will It change the wide metagame.

First, we see the card itself:

Type: [L][M]
-Metal type is very useful, with a lot of Pokemon that can snipe your bench, Metal energy really helps your Pidgeot d to survive. Lightning type helps a lot too. It can do serious damage to Pokemon that has [L] Weakness, ex: Pidgeot, Blastoise ex, Zapdos ex.

HP: 100
-It’s quite low, for a Stage 2. But, since Pidgeot d will be used as a support Pokemon, which we will discuss later, 100 hp is pretty descent.

Poke-Body: Delta Sever

-As long as Pidgeot have a Holon energy attach to it, all of non delta species Poke-Power is blocked. Since a lot of decks now days relies a lot on Poke-Powers, stopping it will cause a lot of problem to your opponent. The best thing is, unlike Medicham ex, Pidgeot d does not have to be active to use this Poke-Body. It only needs a Holon energy attached.

Attacks:
[L][M][C] Rotating Claws 50
Well, this attack works well with Pidgeot’s Poke-Body. Let’s say you have a Holon energy in your discard pile, you can switch an energy attached to Pidgeot d with the Holon energy. Or, if your Pidgeot’s dying, you can switch one energy to Metal energy, which like I’ve said, helps Pidgeot to survive. Also, if you need to use Poke-Power, you can just discard the Holon energy. Get it back next turn using the same method.

Weakness: [L]
-[L] weakness is really bad in this format. A lot of widely-used hard hitters have [L] type, ex: Dragonite d, Metagross d, Zapdos ex, Manetric and Electrode ex. Consider Protective Orb if your Tourney has a lot of [L] types deck.

Resistance: [F]
-There’s a downside of having a [F] resistance. Medicham ex and Armaldo ex can Ohko you using Crystal Shard or Magnetic Storm.

Retreat cost: [C]
-Um…Not so good. As we know, Pidgeot usually have 0 retreat cost.(Maybe the Metal type increase it?). But, it’s not that bad either. It’s just…Not right.

Possible Combos

Mercury with a twist:
-Well, Gardevoir d can move energies, which makes it easy to move your Holon energies to Pidgeot. The Holon energies can be searched by Rayquaza d(HP). Furthermore, Rayquaza d can block Starmie d’s weakness.

Golduck d:
-Golduck d can solve your Battle Frontier problem. Being a stage one and only needing 2 energy card for an attack that will almost always do 60, with addition of discarding Trainers, it will be a great addition to a Pidgeot d deck.

Final Rating:
This power stopping birdie is going to be one of the most powerful rogue deck. Since Holon Phantoms had not been released, we cannot see the full potential of this card…yet.
Anyways, I think it will be widely used, not as a main attacker, just as a support Pokemon.

Unlimited: 2/10
You will get ER’d to death.

Modified: 7/10
Since the current metagame relies a lot on Poke-Power for searching, and this card is a non ex I rate this card same as I rate Medicham ex…Being a non-ex, Stage 2 that could stop Poke-Powers.

That’s all for today’s Card Of the Day. Hope to see you again,

Cya.

Where shadows fall, Phantoms dwell...;  an new set of cards: ex Holon Phantoms!

This week’s review is all about Pidgeot from the newest expansion ex Holon Phantoms.

For the pre-evolutions:
I’d go for the ones from ex Firered Leafgreen instead of ex Holon Phantoms.
The Pidgey has 10 more hp and the Pidgeotto has no retreat cost.
But when you want to run a complete Delta Species deck, go with the ones from ex Holon Phantoms of course, because Delta Species pokémon mostly support eachother.

Now for Pidgeot:
Delta Species benefit from lots of combos with other ds pokémon and trainercards

100 hp, pretty normal for a stage 2 delta species pokemon.

It’s dual type lightning and metal, so it can benefit from Metal energies.
But his body gets stopped by Battle Frontier.
Not many pokemon have Metal resistance and even less pokémon have Lightning resistance (Steelix ex and Flygon ds are the first ones I can think of).
Metal weakness is quite rarely seen,  and lots of pokemon out there have a weakness for Lightning.

With ex Holon Phantoms coming up, there will be lots of new Ligthning-typed pokémon, so try adding in an Acient tomb or a Protective orb to cover Pidgeot’s weakness.

Now for some combos:

Cursed stone, Weezing(Body Odor), Holon research tower?
That’s about the best I can think of.
Pidgeot is really hard to combo, since it’s a stage 2 and it doesn’t help itself to get holon energys (like eeveelutions with delta search),of course you can get a Holon energy back with Rotating claws, but then you need to have discarded holon energys.
Pidgeot doesn’t have decent attacks of his own, he needs to much energy.
Maybe the best way to use Pidgeot is discarding it with Holon adventurer.

Impact on today’s format:

I’m pretty sure this card won’t affect our format, it is to hard to play and just not worth it. Try playing Muk instead, it’s easier to play, and he stops ALL powers from you opponents pokemon so the effect of his body is actually better than Pidgeot, even though Muk has to be active

Since the format will be changing in a couple of months, Pidgeot will be even worse, because there will be so many deck that feature Delta species pokémon, so Pidgeot’s body will be superfluous.

Overall:
I think it’s a bad card and won’t see a lot of play. I think it would have been better if he had no retreat cost and rotating claws did 60 damage or costed less.
5/10

Pidgeot (Ex: Holon Phantoms)

Another addition of the Card Reviews, this time we look at a Pokemon that has been receiving a lot of anticipation lately: Pidgeot from Ex: Holon Phantoms.

The Card

Pidgeot is a Stage 2 Pokemon with 100HP, an average mark for such a Pokemon.  Being a Lightning/Metal type, it means that yet another Lightning Pokemon is present in the format.  This also means that Battle Frontier can shut down Pidgeot, so be prepared to see that coming.  A Lightning Weakness is to be expected, as is the Fighting Resistance.  The Retreat Cost of 1 is decent, payable nonetheless.  With that, here’s the rundown on Pidgeot’s text:

Delta Reserve is amazing.  For the simple requirement of having a Holon Energy attached to it, Pidgeot makes all non-delta species Pokemon unable to use their Poke-Powers.  This Poke-Body cripples a significant portion of the metagame, stopping all Magcargo, FR/LG Pidgeot, Blastoise ex, Electrode ex and others from using their Poke-Powers.  In my opinion, that’s reason enough to want to play the card.  The key to Pidgeot is securing the Holon Energy.

Rotating Claws, on the other hand, is an average attack that you really shouldn’t be using all that often.  If you are actually attacking with Pidgeot, make sure that the energy you pull back from the discard is a Holon Energy; otherwise a lot is going wrong to be attacking with it.

Combos

Pidgeot + Houndoom UF: The one problem with Pidgeot is the issue of having Battle Frontier and Energy Removal 2 turning the power off.  Houndoom shows promise in shutting off the opponent’s non-Supporter Trainer flow, and only flops at the hands of Latias and Latios from Ex: Holon Phantoms, shutting off both Houndoom and Pidgeot’s Poke-Bodies…your best bet in this case is to use Space Center to stop them.

Pidgeot + Dustox ex: Basically, if you were to put Pidgeot in a Dustox ex deck, you would throw the only deck that has come up with a counter to it (LBS’ Mr. Mime Ditto to OHKO Dustox, using Blastoise ex’s Energy Rain) right off course!  Shutting off all the Poke-Powers of Pokemon-ex like Blastoise ex cripples a deck like LBS as we’ve stated before, using Pidgeot in this case is a wise investment indeed.

Pidgeot in Metanite: It was an original idea to throw Pidgeot in Metanite and slap a Holon Energy onto it, making the Delta Charges run rampant on the play area.  It’s a viable option for Metanite, giving the deck a shutdown option that it’s never had before.

Impact on the format:

From what I see, with the release of Pidgeot from Ex: Holon Phantoms, a lot more Delta Species Pokemon will be played than they do now.  Pidgeot will act as a wall that separates all other cards and gives the Delta Species Pokemon yet another advantage in order to be superior to other Pokemon.

Card of the Week

No.3

Pidgeot d---Holon Phantoms

Another COTW now and this time, the card taking Pokebeach’s spotlight now is the greatly anticipated Pidgeot d from EX Holon Phantoms.

Overview

Pidgeot d, now a ‘Pokemon Delta’, is now noticeably a dual Lightning and Steel elemental Pokemon. It has 100 HP, a Poke-Power, a single attack, weakness to Lightning, resistance to Fighting and a Retreat Cost of 1C.
Pidgeot d is a ST.2 Pokemon.

I dive into the important part of Pidgeot d first, namely, it’s Power: Delta Sever.
Delta Sever requires a Holon Energy (they comes in three different forms: WP/GL/RF) to activate. Once that small condition is fulfilled, Pidgeot d’s Delta Sever will shut down ALL Pokemon-Powers that are not belonging to Pokemon Delta. Whoa.
If this comes into effect it turn not only the respective game it is in, this has the ability to transform the whole metagame.
I make a list and pointers of anything it will lock off:

BLS: (They cannot function at all without Blastiose’s Energy Rain.)
Liability: (They will never be able to keep up with Pidgeot gone.)
ZRE/Zap-Turn-Dos: (This will also be decimated. All of the Pokemon here save Magmar will have major Powers that keep the deck going. Since Pidgeot d rids them of them, they are halted permemantly.)
Ludicargo: (Though it will not lose any attack power, they lose the ability to fish out cards from the deck and they will be severely slowed down.)
Dragtrode: (Impossible. It will be simply impossible for them to get going without the help of Darkness Navigation and Dark Trance. Game Over)
SMP: (It will very tough for them to move about lacking Super Connectivity from Metagross and Pidgeot’s Quick Search.)
Gengar: (It won’t completely devastate them. But as Gengar has no more Shadow Curse at its disposal, it becomes much less threatening.)
T2Cham: (Cham cannot be a T2 deck without Jirachi and though Delta Sever won't 100% lock it, it will make it quite slow.)
Machamp: (Machamp comes in different variants, though all of them rely on Poke-Powers as supports to Machamp. Del-Tail/Electrode EX and others, most of them will prevent Machamp deck functioning at all.)
Any deck that runs Pidgeot/Magcargo/Jirachi (DX): (They will all be slowed down greatly since they lack any major search engine.)
Wow, big list of decks and archetypes Pidgeot d can cause trouble for.
Definatly this can complete transform the game and is one of many anti-Power cards that Pokémon USA has decided to apply to balanced out a once corrupted format.
Delta Sever is truly metagame-changing material and I will show you more in the combo section on what decks will apply this Power to their advantage.

100 HP is average for ST.2 Pokemon. It can a few hits before falling but then again you will not be using Pidgeot d for full-time attacking. Thankfully, being a Metal type, Pidgeot d can use Metal Energy to be its self up with the damage reduction effects and make itself a lot harder to take down.

Pidgeot d is a ST.2 Pokemon meaning that it will be very difficult for it to come into play without the help of Rare Candy and/or search Trainers. Pidgeot d comes from two stages of evolution: Pidgey (Basic) and Pidgeotto (ST.1). There will be two different lines to play with once Holon Phantoms released: the FRLG line and (obviously) the Holon Phantoms line.
The FRLG line is SLIGHTLY weaker than the Holon Phantom line (offensively) but the Pidgey has 10+HP and the Pidgeotto has Free Retreat. I wouldn’t mind which line to play since they’re both alright but in the end, I would choose the FRLG side. I

The dual typing of Lighting and Steel is rather nice and proves good in utilising Metal Energy and doing major damage to Lightning weak Pokemon (namely, Pidgeot (FRLG)). Also Pokemon proving fat targets include Zapdos EX, Milotic, Blastiose EX and so forth. Remember that since it is Metal, Battle Frontier will turn off Delta Sever so Pidgeot d players should take the necessary precautions to counteract it (e.g.: counter gyms, Windstorm e.t.c).

The attack is called Rotating Claws, last seen on Rockets Scizor EX.
The attack requires L/M/C to use and does 50 damage plus the option to discard an Energy card attached to Pidgeot d and then attach an Energy card in your discard pile to Pidgeot d. This works nicely with the Poke-Power since you can use a Holon Trainer/TV Reporter to discard a Holon Energy then use Rotating Claws to pick it up and activate Delta Sever.
Though this may sound good, this is nowhere near good enough for a ST.2 Pokemon. 50 damage is easily healable, inconsistent when full-time attacking, can only 3-4HKO the majority of Pokemon EX and when compared to some ST.1 Pokemon that can do the same amount of damage for the same price, is costly too. Rotating Claws also requires one of your four Metal or Dark Metal Energy along with a Lighting Energy and a C Energy to work and that will make it a prime target for Energy Removal 2 as well as more difficult to power up. The attack is one of those ‘last resort’ options that should only be used sparingly.

A Lightning Weakness is perhaps not the most excitable thing in world since with Holon Phantoms and the upcoming Miracle Crystal, there will be a whole lot of powerful Lighting elementals to deal with as well as the current archetypes of ZRE, Zap-Turn-Dos and Metanite all bearing the Lightning type. Protective Orb will invaluable to shield Pidgeot d against the might of those decks as well as surprise POW!s and Reversals. This is not entirely the best Weakness and any deck that plays this should do well to expect players to see Pidgeot d as a prime target and with just 100 HP, it is unlikely it will last against their main attacker.

Wow. Fighting Resistance. I have NEVER seen something like that on a Pidgeot!
Anyway…it is a really common Resistance these days but the only commonly played Fighting types nowadays are Machamp (LM) and Dark Tyranitar (Sand Damage) so really it is quite a nice bonus. No many other Fighting types being played at the moment until Armaldo d and Blaziken EX arrive.
It is not the best resistance but it is comfortable being with. After all, now Machamp has to have 3 React Energies before it gets any considerable damage done...

The Retreat Cost is 1C. This may be a 1C up from the beautiful Free Retreat cost of FRLG’s Pidgeot but it still be a lovely price and very easy to pay off.
Don’t like the Holon Energy? Retreat, play the Switch Trainer and attach for a Rotating Claws attack and get back a more convenient Holon Energy (namely GL). Of course, you wouldn’t do all that since Pidgeot d attack (as described earlier) is not good enough to bother with doing all that for it unless you are in need to activate Delta Sever.

Combos

Pidgeot could really into any that doesn’t run Poke-Powers.
Rock Lock is a great contender, though you would be running 4 ST.2 lines which IS NOT recommended.
Delta deck will be most likely to run Pidgeot since its Power nicely bypasses them. Though it is unlikely that MetaNite or Mercury will take Pidgeot d in as it will be tasked with 3 ST.2 lines (or 2 ST.2 and 1 ST.1) and that is a very high order. Though expect in the future the inevitability that there will be Delta decks with Pidgeot d running along side them.
Another combo could be running it with Houndoom (UF) and Medicham EX for the ultimate lock deck since Pidgeot d covers up the Pokemon EX Power that Medicham EX cannot cover. With Houndoom out as well your opponent cannot play Trainers in which therefore in harmony with Wise Aura and Delta Sever can pretty much destroy any chance of your opponent getting their strategy to work.

Rotating Claws has a combo with Delta Sever (as described earlier) since using a Holon Supporter or TV Reporter will send a Holon Energy card (providing you choose it) to the discard pile where you can use Pidgeot d’s attack and fetch it and trigger Delta Sever. The Holon Energies should be uses in groups of 4-6. There should be 4 Holon Energy GL since when Pidgeot d has Lighting Energy card and that attached, damage done by Pokemon EX to Pidgeot d is reduced by 10. Not a lot, but it is the only positive effect that any of the Holon Energy cards that will efficiently ensure any effect on the bird. If you find problems using Rotating Claws, try playing 1-2 Holon Researh Tower since that will allow any Basic Energy to double as Metal Energy as well (without the defense bonus).

The problem with Pidgeot d going into combos is that though it shuts down/slows down the majority of the archetype format, it also means it cannot be played with any of those decks. This means that the only ways to play Pidgeot d is for rouge decks and upcoming potential Delta decks to utilise the Power Pidgeot d has at its disposal.

Pros

• An absolutely chaotic Power that will undoubtedly create noticeable waves in the metagame.
• It shuts off ALL Powers except Delta ones which means most of the format is locked since the only Poke-Power reliant decks are MetaNite and Mercury.
• A nice and simple combo from the attack and Delta Sever make it fun to play.
• All it needs is a single Holon Energy and it will become one of the few cars that can grind the super-powered BLS deck to a halt.
• A Retreat Cost of C is friendly and very payable.
• Has a Resistance to Fighting. A common Resistance but considering the amount of Fighting types that will see play in the upcoming Miracle Crystal and Holon Phantoms, it will see its usefulness.
• 100 HP is cool and it can take a hit or two from an average main attacker.
• It is Metal so it can reap the benefits of the Metal Energy and make it a tough opponent to take down.

Cons

• Delta Sever needs a Special Energy card to activate which can be a nuisance if you cannot find it without Holon Lass or a search card.
• A Lighting Weakness is very bad in the current metagame with opponents ranging ZRE to MetaNite. It can easily be OHKOed since all a Lightning attack needs to do is 50 damage.
• It is ST.2, so you need more cards to get it out as well as Rare Candy and search cards.
• With Metal and Holon Energy needed, it is a prime target for Energy Removal 2.
• The only decent Delta decks at the moment: Metanite and Mercury will find it very hard to run Pidgeot d since they will be tasked with too many Evolution lines.
• Tempting Pokemon for an opponent to Reversal/POW! then KO it.
• Rotating Claws is a bad attack with weak power for a ST.2 Pokemon even with the added effect of switching Energy with the discard pile.
• As it is Metal, it must obey the Battle Frontier rule and negate the use of Delta Sever.
• As it is needed to use Rare Candy to pull it out T1-2, it is prone to ATM Rock and will make you waste a Candy.
• It shuts down many decks, but it cannot play with all the deck it can shut down.

Overall

Pidgeot is a special card. It has hype and much anticipation and has the potential to change the game or at least create waves. But is its difficulty to play and downsides that stop being the ‘real’ game breaker.

Unlimited: 1.75/10---It will get ERed and SERed to death and it is too slow to play.

Modified: 7.5/10---How this be utilised will determine how ell this will do. It has a staggering amount of potential though.

Limited/Draft: 8/10---Where Powers are more important than anything other than draw, this does score well and is a decent attacker here.

Let's see the new Pidgeot delta:

Hit Points:

HP of 100 is not bad considering he is not an ex. Also he is a metal type which with metal energies can reduce up to 40 damage.

Poke-Body: Delta Server:

This is why it shines. It ignores a huge number of cards and decks such as
Decks:
BSL, Dragtrode, Liability/Typhlosion, T2 Eeveelutions, Ludicargo etc.

Cards:
Pidgeot’s Quick Search
Magcargo’s Smooth Over
Blastoise’s ex Energy Rain
Jirachi’s Wishing Star
And lots of other good and useful cards.

Delta Server is great because it doesn’t need to be active to work.

Attack: Rotating Claws

For 1 Lightning, 1 Metal and 1 Colorless energy this attack does 50 damage. You may also discard an energy card attached to Pidgeot and then you search the discard pile for a different Energy card and attach
it to Pidgeot. The attack is not worth it but if you lose a Pidgeot which had a Holon Energy attached, the effect of the card lets you change it with another one.

Weakness: Lightning:

Weakness to lightning is really bad because there are many decks which use lightning pokemon such as ZRE, Metanite, Manectric and others

Resistance: Fighting:

This is good as it stops Medicham ex, Armaldo ex, Machamp and Hariyama ex.

Retreat Cost: [C]

What happened to the 0 retreat cost LOL. Well it’s not bad, just don’t discard the holon energies or metal energies although it will not be used as a main attacker.

Rating:

I’m sure that all decks that don’t use any poke-powers will find a space for Pidgeot. It’s a very good card and it will change the format a lot.

I give it an 8/10

Well, a pidgeot from HP....

Well, it is a stage 2 pokemon with a decent hp. 100hp would be enough to keep pidgeot long enough for the whole game. Metal type helps a lot!!!!! Steelix EX can't snipe pidgeot for a KO in 1 turn but needs 2 instead.....including pidgeot has a metal energy or two. Being a lightning type helps too, espeacially against Zappy EX and Blasty EX dealing X2 damage!!!

Before we go deeply into pidgeot, lets go with its stages of evolutions first.

Pidgey-  It is recomended to use the FRLG one because it has higher hp than the HP one. The FRLG one has better attacks too, it can disable retreat for 1 (C) energy and 20 damage for 2(C) energies. But 1-2 HP pidgeys won't hurt due to its lightning type. Good against lightning weakness pokemons. Hitting 20 for 1 (C) energy, including the defending pokemon has a weakness to (L) type.

Next we look at;

Pidgeotto- The FRLG one again disables retreat and does 10 damage for 1 (C) energy. not only that, it can also attack 30 for 2 (C) energies which is pretty solid. 70 hp is also quite good for a stage 1.  Next we look at the HP one having the same amount of hp with the FRLG one. Again a lightning type. With 1 pretty decent attack, Whirlwind allows your opponent to switch the defending pokemon with a benched pokemon also dealing 30 damage. Only needing 1 (L) and 1 (C) energy to attack... Again, lightning types deal twice as much damage to a pokemon with lightning weakness dealing 60 DAMAGE FOR 2 ENERGIES!!! Awesome!! Both types of pidgeotto having fighting resistance is better than none and fighting decks are quite popular nowadays with the LM machamp and LM golem.

Now, we go back to pidgeot.

Poke-body: Having just 1 holon energy on pidgeot, no poke-powers
for ALL non-delta pokemon including EX pokemon!!! Like,

             - Blasty EX
             - Pidgeot(Quick search)
             - Dragtrode
             - Tyrani/Wal- cargo
             - Form Change Deoxys EX/non-EX
             - Venu-bliss
             - Metagross (DX)

and many more!!! Most decks rely on poke-powers to win, with pidgeot all their strategies and combos are DESTROYED!!!! Downside is, delta pokemon can still use their poke-powers normally, meaning pidgeot won't be very effective against Meta-nite. Another one is that battle frontier and Feraligatr EX stops this power!!! Overall, it's a great poke-body!!!!!

Attack-Rotating Claws(Does Pidgeot even have claws!???)

For 1 (L), 1 (M) and 1(C) energy, pidgeot can attack for 50, and you MAY discard an energy attached to pidgeot and attach another energy from your discard pile to pidgeot.... Quite useful, espeacially when your special energies are in the discard pile, just discard 1 energy and get back, I don't know, maybe a metal or holon energy and use to gardevoir d to move that energy to another pokemon...... Well, not so good attack but still, useful. Being able to attack 100 damage to a pokemon with lightning weakness, not so bad!!!

Weakness and Resistance

Having Weakness to lightning isn't a good thing at all, lets see, decks like;

- Meta-nite
- Zap-turn-dos
- ZRE

will ELIMINATE pidgeot with a OHKO move.....but, there's always protective orb(UF), Kingdra(TRR) and Rayquaza(HP) to make pidgeot "Weakness-less"

Resistance to Fighting is not so bad..... and not so good either,

Good is;

Hariyama EX, Machamp(LM) and Golem (LM) deal less damage to pidgeot.

Bad is;

Armaldo and Medicham EX will OHKO it with attacks( Sky kick and Vortex Chop), with the help of crystal sahrd and magnectic storm.

Either way having resistance is better than not having one at all...

Retreat cost

This pidgeot makes me disappointed with its 1 retreat cost!!The FRLG one has 0!!! Well, I guess cards like dragonite(DS) and power tree can retrive that energy back.....

Combos!!!

It MIGHT work well with medicham EX, stopping poke-powers even further......and ones that Medicham EX couldn't reach like EX poke-powers....

1-2 of these could be tech into a Meta-nite deck to disrupt other decks since pidgeot won't stop Meta-nite poke-powers.... Bye-bye LBS and SMP!!!!

That's all I can think of....

Rating for each category;

Unlimited-6.8/10

Able to stop Feraligatr(Riptide)  poke-power and Rain Dance, don't for get the all mighty slowking would be good, but 100 hp also means feraligatr and suicune EX bait!!!

RS-on - 8.9/10

Blaziken,Swampert,Sceptile,Magneton(DR) and many other Poke-powers are stopped destroying the deck!!! Better take pidgeot into a count.....

HL-on - 7/10

Less important poke-powers to be stopped other than blasty EX and metagross(DX) or pidgeot(FRLG) ....but still good. Low hp KILLS!!!

Overall- 8.5/10

Stopping poke-powers is great for a stage 2 pokemon with a decent hp and attack!!! Great......

Conclusion,

Pidgeot will totally change the metagame around due to its "power" stopping. So, pidgeot will become quite popular in certain decks.
