So incase you didn't know Percy Jackson and the Olympians the lightning thief came out today I went with some friend at the first showing today. So it was a GOOD movie but the story-line was totally twisted around but the actors where pretty good and fight sequences. So all in all i would recommend it if you have read the book. So if you want to see it
pros

good actors
awesome fight sequences
entertaining
long
even though they messed up the storyline a lot it was for the better (kinda)
nice ending

cons

messed up storyline
added and subtracted monsters
luke died (I'm pretty sure)
Annabeth is brunette

I just saw it and it is rubbish.

Sure, it may look cool with all the CGI graphics, but they took a brilliant book and screwed it up.

If you haven't read the book, you can see it but when you read the book, it will feel as if you are reading a different story.

If you have read the book, DO NOT READ IT! It is completely and utterly &!@*%$.

It has no continuity to the books; there is no Clarince, no Ares, no Oracle, no awesome bit where the Echidna attacks Percy with the lion-thing-that-I-can't-remember-the-name-of and no Annabeth throwing the squeaky toy at the Cerberus.

Meh.

I'm seeing it on Sunday, and probably already regretting not seeing The Wolfman this weekend if this movie is truly that bad. :[

I had no idea this movie was based off a book until last night I think it was? But either way, I think it just looks horrible anyways, even the idea sounds bad to me.

No, the idea is amazing nad if you read it then you will see how good it is.

I would have loved the movie if I had never read the books.
The story line was so messed up they are going to have to do some crazy things to get the rest of the series.
I was really mad during the whole movie, I just kept sating to myself, that's not in the book, neither is that, WHY? is that not in the movie?
One of the worst things was the pearl things, that was big in the movie but was never talked about in the book.
In fact Persephone should not even be in the underworld, Its is SUMMER!
Hades gets her in the winter.

Also, why did they know he was the son of Poseidon?

And there were no cabins, no Thalia's tree, and there was the stupid 'law' that the gods could not see their children. WHY!?

What were they thinking with the Parthenon thing and the Hydra?

I had exactly the same experience as you Guy89.

They also left out the WW2 stuff

They did not say anything about the 16 year old prophecy or about the pact.

That was what made it Percy Jackson.

WHY was there a fight scene with Luke at the end?

Anyway, didn't the shoes not fit Percy?

Very true. I hate when movie commercials only show the good parts. Like when the 1st Alvin and the Chipmunks movie came it out looked awesome. Then when I saw it, it wasn't that great.

Maybe they left so many things out because they're not making movies for the other books? Are sequels even confirmed yet?

dmaster out.
