Plasma Bank (NOT so banky!)

THIS IS EDITED

So this is what I'm looking at right now:

Pokemon:
  • 4 Deoxys EX
  • 3 Lugia EX
  • 2 Thundurus EX
  • 1 Genesect EX
  • 1 Reshiram
Trainer/Supporter/Stadium
  • 4 Professor Juniper
  • 2 Colress
  • 2 Shadow Triad
  • 3 Shauna
  • 4 Muscle band
  • 4 Colress Machine
  • 4 Team Plasma Ball
  • 2 Ultra Ball
  • 2 Switch
  • 1 Dowsing Machine
  • 3 Skyarrow Bridge
  • 2 Professor's Letter
  • 2 Tool Scrapper
  • 1 Escape Rope
Energy
  • 4 Double Colorless
  • 4 Plasma
  • 2 Psychic
  • 3 Lightning

The basic strategy is simple, Power up what you can as quickly as you can. The plasma pokemon, primarily Lugia, have the inherent power-ups from Deoxys and Muscle band. But if you put a muscle band on a Thundurus or even a Deoxys with a plasma you'll be hitting hard. Then I've added laserbank to help things along too. I threw in that extra frozen city for a "win" in the stadium wars.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So I've changed things around to be as aggressive with attacks as I can be. Muscle band on whatever I can open with, and HOPEFULLY I can get some Deoxys on the bench and a Lugia or Thundurus up attacking. Again, all advice is always welcome!!

The big question: is this a tournament worthy deck? Thanks in advance for all help!! :D

RE: "Plasma Bank"? (Lugia/Deoxy/Thunder/Yvetal/Laserbank)

How you "power up" your Yveltal/Mewtwo to 1 an EX?

RE: "Plasma Bank"? (Lugia/Deoxy/Thunder/Yvetal/Laserbank)

Tournament worthy? Meh. IMO though everyone has seen scramble switch. Its a near staple now. Instead, i suggest maybe computer search, especially since you aren't playing snorlax. Just for consistency.

RE: "Plasma Bank"? (Lugia/Deoxy/Thunder/Yvetal/Laserbank)

I don't 1 an EX with Mewtwo/Yveltal. I simply power them up. And I suppose I'll stick to another deck, thanks for the feed back guys!!!

HEY don't go yet. All you need is some N, couple more stadiums, prisms, and maybe mewtwo for Yveltal?

RE: "Plasma Bank"? (Lugia/Deoxy/Thunder/Yvetal/Laserbank)

Maybe, I'm trying to experiment around a little. I may go with the rayboar deck I have. I dunno yet, LOTS can change in a week!

RE: Plasma Bank (Lugia/Deoxys/Thundurus/Yvetal/Laserbank)

Have you ever considered just running D, L and Plasma energy in your deck with Shadow Circle? Yveltal can provide energy attachment acceleration along with Thundurus EX and the D energy + Shadow Weakness removes Weakness from your Poké (especially Lugia EX since many players are teching L Poké into their decks as counters to Yveltal, Yveltal EX and Lugia EX).

RE: Plasma Bank (Lugia/Deoxys/Thundurus/Yvetal/Laserbank) (Updated!)

So I've made a few changes, but I think that this deck type is...more simple? Than some decks... I do hope for some feed back and advice, and thanks in advance!

*Snipped* I went ahead and edited your original post to coincide with this one, so there is no need for multiple decklists. Thanks! ~Kecleon

So the basis of the deck is the same. The Lugias are meant to hit 170-180. The Thundurus are energy/early game/Lightning weakness. Deoxys both power up and have an advantage in a Psychic vs Psychic fight. The Gesesect uses red signal. Mewtwo is similar to Deoxys, but just a different mechanic. I'm almost tempted to take mewtwo out just do the the fact Deoxys' attack *can* do more damage and the energy isn't dedicated to Mewtwo. Yveltal is there because it's crazy. Reshiram is for Virizion/Genesect.

I feel like the supporters are well placed, they should sift the deck really well. 4 Muscle bands because I need to hit hard and quick. 4 Colress Machines to speed things along. I think I may need some Ultra Balls but I'm not really sure what to take out. 1 Frozen City and 2 Virbanks are the only things I have access to, I'd like to run 3 of either but that probably won't be possible.

The same goes for Prism energy, if I get more I will definitely use them.

Thanks again for the help!!!!!

RE: Plasma Bank (Lugia/Deoxys/Thundurus/Yvetal/Laserbank) updated

Now, may we take a moment to think. You are running Yveltal and Mewtwo in the same deck. And I don't want excuses because you have deoxys for psychic weakness. So -
-1 Mewtwo EX (you have Yveltal)
-1 Muscle band (3 is enough)
-2 Plasma ball (ultra ball outclasses)
+2 N (Drawpower)
+2 Ultra ball

or

+1 N
+3 Ultra ball

And may I ask why on earth you are running laserbank in plasma. It doesn't help at all in any circumstance and if you dropped it it would make the deck heaps more consistent. Just think about why you are running laserbank.

RE: Plasma Bank (Lugia/Deoxys/Thundurus/Yvetal/Laserbank) updated

I'm sorry zavtac. I will admit to this: I am very, very, new to tournament play. As in I was making decks with base set and xy cards about last month, saw states was coming and said "let's go with it". I made the RayBoar in my other post, and I really like it, just seemed as though plasma had more synergy. I have posted a lot on these fourms, and they are awesome. Because there are people with experiance who can help me. Thank you for the advice, I really do appreciate it. I'm just trying to grasp this, so bare with me!

I'm sorry. I know you are new, I can tell :p. I didn't mean to put you down for running laserbank, I was just wondering why you were running it, that's all. If you had any stratagem behind it. But yeah, GL with becoming competitive.

RE: Plasma Bank (Lugia/Deoxys/Thundurus/Yvetal/Laserbank) updated

It's OK . there's something called constructive criticism lol it's necessary sometimes. How else would we learn!

RE: Plasma Bank (Lugia/Deoxys/Thundurus/Yvetal/Laserbank) updated

The game HAS changed a lot since gradeschool :D

The big question: is this a tournament worthy deck?
At a League Challenge today, I had a chance to compare notes with another player who ran a PlasmaBox (similar to yours) deck at yesterday's State tournament. He included a Palkia EX whose Strafe attack inflicts 100 damage (for CCC energy cost) onto Dragon type Poké which would be very, very helpful in Blastoise and RayBoar match-ups.

Secondly, why would you ever run any Stadium other than Frozen City in a Team Plasma deck? FC can provide lots of extra damage without you ever attacking.

Lastly, I switched my Reshiram out of my PlasmaBox deck for Zekrom which I found to be much more useful, especially in matchups against Yveltal, Yveltal EX and Lugia EX.

RE: Plasma Bank NOT so banky! updated(again)

The frozen cities are something I HOPE to pick up at the card store/players at the game. I have one and I do know that I need them. Is 3 good or should I go with 2? A palkia was also a card I had considered and I would like to get one of those as well. Other than that how is it?

Rule of Thumb: 2 Stadiums to get it out, 3 Stadiums to win the war.

No Skyla? Plasmas kinda need it, also Random Receivers. Don't use Shadow Triad, there aren't that many cards you need back apart from energy (which can be gained with Thundurus). This is supposed to be like TDL, right? What's with Psychic/Lightning spread, either run Prisms or if you're too scared of E-hammers and Drifblim run all Lightning. You are seriously never going to attack with Deoxys.

ok, thanks for the help blaZofgold!!! I really didn't know about the Deoxys attacking, so that really helps. Seems like it would make it a lot more stable if you just went with Thundurus.

I run 3 Frozen Stadium in my deck and started playtesting with Palkia EX - very effective results thus far.

During the last 2 State tournaments, I used Deoxys EX as an attacker in most games. when you consider Yveltal EX, Darkrai EX, Genesect EX, etc., those all need 3 attached energy to attack. So, you can KO those Poké after you've weaken them with another Poké.
