Platinum is the 40th set of cards of the Trading Card Game and the 24th released by Pokemon USA. It was released on October 13, 2008 in Japan and is to be realesed in the United States on February 11, 2009. It introduces the never-before-seen Pokémon, Shaymin and includes all-new Trainer-specific Pokémon SP. A new game play area, the Lost Zone, adds lots of new strategies. It features two theme decks built around the new Pokémon, Shaymin and the Renegade Pokémon, Giratina. This set includes a holographic parallel set and has 130 cards in all.
