Here, you can discuss, and post your drawings from,
'Pokémon Art Academy'!

Please keep all discussion inline with the forum rules and if not your drawing, please give credit to the artist.

Here are a couple of mine!

From the second shading lesson I think. I colored the highlights and shadows in it's ribbons on the opposite sides. :p Noticed that when I was saving the drawing, but was too lazy to fix it.

From the first shading lesson with hatching. My favorite so far.

EDIT: Just realized that I should probably sign my name in these. :p

I've been considering getting this but I'm not sure. Do you think it's worth my money or should I get another game?nI'm not a very good artist (read: I'm an awful artist with no training whatsoever) which adds to my worry. On the flip side however I am interested in this and it would serve me well for longer then most Pokémon games would.

I am terrible at drawing and I love this game! I think it is a lot of fun and I have actually improved my drawings as I progressed through the game. I learned a lot too.

I would say this game is more for someone who isn't very good or is intermediate, as apposed to someone who is very talented and knowledgeable. I think they might get board/frustrated with the lessons. I say that based on reviews I read and it makes sense after playing the game.

Look around for a used copy and you might get it cheeper if you are unsure you want to spend the money on it.

I had the exact same concerns as you. I'm not exactly a master artist myself. But I got it anyway, I gave it a shot, and I gotta say, it's helped me. Just look, I'll post what I've done thus far;

First one I did that wasn't any of the lessons- the glitch Pokémon .4. I was a little off on the details, but I still like how it came out. I chose the spooky forest background due to the Mew glitch being usually performed in the general vicinity of Lavender Town (said glitch being the only way to catch a .4).

This was before I started really getting into shading and stuff, more for fun than anything else. I do want to redo this one at some point, but for now, I'm pretty pleased with it. That little island in the background is, of course, Cinnabar Island.

fkdhnes.jpg

Experimented with the paintbrush a bit for the Poison Gas, I personally like how it came out.

NYEJUnt.jpg

This one, I just don't know. I was originally intending to go for something at least sorta realistic, but I'm pretty sure I kinda screwed that one up.

Ah, now this one's where I really got started with the shading, and I like how it came out. I also decided to design the cap and shields after the Ultra Ball instead, just because I like the idea. If ever there's a Mega Amoonguss, the Ultra Ball design should be incorporated into it somehow.

Ce5Vn3O.jpg

This one I'm really proud of. Based it off of a screenshot from the anime episode The Ultimate Test.

1v2hzkT.jpg

I like the shading I did on this one. The background Pokémon are Magikarp, Wailmer, Sharpedo, Tentacool, and Qwilfish.

qhODjyD.jpg

I think I did alright on the shading, but what I'm really proud of is the Sandstorm attack it's using. The background Pokémon is Trapinch.

UcoTtCm.jpg

...I'm no good at drawing people. Pokémon I've gotten the hang of more or less, but people, not so much. My original idea seemed much more epic in my head, but when the best I could do was Red as a silhouette in the snow, and Ethan's hand holding Weezing's Poké Ball... yeah. Anyway, Red's Pikachu vs. Ethan's Weezing at the peak of Mt. Silver.

Originally it was gonna just be Foongus, but I had the room, the idea came to me, and so I managed to get a partially buried Oddish in there. The sun's setting, and the Oddish is emerging from the ground for the night, encountering Foongus as it does so. I like how this one came out.

I am proud of this one. Shading wasn't even needed on Vileplume's body, given the perspective here, that giant flower providing lots of (convenient) shade. Also, I like that Solar Beam I have it charging up.

luJpjau.jpg

I think I really nailed this one. I like how it came out. Might use it as my avatar come October.

Originally just gonna be a Haunter pic, then I started experimenting with the spray paint thing to make a Gastly, and it just kinda stuck. I like how it came out, though. Especially the red aura around Haunter's hands, I like what I did there.

RdPCa2k.jpg

Heh, Weedle doesn't look so harmless from the point of view of the leaf it's about to eat, does it? I've always liked Weedle, so it was fun to make this one look all big and powerful.

aortNZz.jpg

Did this one around Christmastime, and I like how it came out. I probably could've done better on the bow on the Present, but other than that, I'm pleased with it.

DKv76Wt.jpg

Now this one I like how it came out. That purple aura around its wings, it's using Cross Poison

aZFojVa.jpg

Look, ma, no outlines! This was my first real attempt that didn't involve the outline marker or markers in general (markers were used at some point for any attempted Gastly), but I am really pleased with the result.

XF5gWS3.jpg

This one, I'm not sure about one way or another. I was going for a Voltorb using Flash, so I clearly achieved it, but I can't help but wonder if I could've done this one better...

hgDOFYV.jpg

Ehhhh... I think Voltorb came out better than this one.

dyXPKFy.jpg

This one, on the other hand, I think I did alright.

euhU5cG.jpg

Top percentage of Rattata indeed. :) Note the unconscious Dragonite lying before it.

0UaSDmL.jpg

This was probably the most complex one I did involving the smudge tool, but I think I did OK with it.

unNW8yL.jpg

I think it came out alright. The background Pokémon are Slowbro (and by extension, Shellder), Chinchou, Luvdisc, and Mantine (and by extension, Remoraid).

YbSykJd.jpg

This one I'm especially proud of. Took a lot of doing to get the wing patterns just right, but I'm very pleased with the results. And those rings are it using Bug Buzz.

QcjgM3I.jpg

Kinda simple in comparison to my Venomoth pic, but I still like how it came out.

p3ap23R.jpg

I had to do it at some point. A Kangaskhan at the east coast of Cinnabar Island with an 'M in her pouch- the original baby Kangaskhan!

lfttotZ.jpg

This one took several tries. Dragalge's too big and detailed for me to get its entire body into a single pic well, so this is the end result instead. Still, I'm thinking it could've come out much worse. The background Pokémon are Staryu, Shellder, and Seadra.

Here are some of mine! Its actually been forever since Ive touched the game, I havent really played since the first few weeks it came out so I only have a few drawings made. Its not that it wasnt fun, life just got in the way. Id love to get back into it again soon though.
I liked to add my own touch into some of the lessons.

Might get the game just to revive this thread, I really love seeing the drawings people make from this game. I guess not too many people have it :/
