Pokemon Pokémon That Look Better Than Their Evolved Forms

The reason why Kirlia looks better than Gardevoir and Gallade, is because Gallade has silly long elbows that get in the way and Gardevoir looks like it doesn't have any legs in official artwork or main series games.
They aren't "silly long elbows", they are "epic blade-like protrusions of doom" (official name)! Kinda like natural katars.
And legs are overrated. :p

I just wish unevolved Pokemon had the same stats as evolved ones... Eviolite isn't enough. I want my Dewott and Pansear to be as strong as Samurott/Simisear. The age old conundrum of looks vs. stats...(looks every time, obviously ~.^)

Slaking will forever disappoint me, Vigoroth will always be my preferred sloth monkey thing :p. Not to mention the majesticness that is Dragonair.

Thats very true, Vigoroth looks so cool and feral, its big fat slob of an evolution is quite a let down appearance-wise. And Dragonair is gorgeous! I like Dragonite and all but that pre evo is definitely prettier.

RE: Pokemon that look better than thier evolved forms

Slaking is a fun idea, but the design is clearly more of a gorilla, so we don't even have a "proper" fully evolved sloth.

I thought Gardevoir was cooler when I assumed it was legless and hovered around via telekinesis.

An idea I've had since the very first gen was to have a "devolution" stone that makes only an aesthetic change; the pokemon gains the image and cry of its previously evolved form, but otherwise the battle data is still is evolved form.

Who wouldn't be delighted by the idea of a Magikarp having all the stats and moves of an l100 Gyarados?

To make it a little fair and less surprising they could add some kind of marker or indicator that the pokemon is "devolved."

That, or pokemon should gain stats on some kind of curve, set up so a level 100 meowth would end up with the same stats as a level 100 persian, for instance, it's just that the meowth starts out weaker and takes more time and effort before it starts to catch up.

Great idea but who doesn't already use magikarp ingame at lvl 100?

Whismur > Exploud.... -shutter-

I also like Spoink a lot better than Grumpig. You never hear anyone talk about Grumpig ever, it always goes so unnoticed. I blame the bland colors they used.

One more, Buneary is better than Lopunny hands down. o_O

RE: Pokemon that look better than thier evolved forms

I've always liked Roggenrola a lot better then Boldore or Giligath.
It's just a nice rock-guy who's able to shoot down birds.
Plus, he looks cute when he runs around.

But when people draw him realistically....
*shudder*

RE: Pokemon that look better than thier evolved forms

I personally prefer evolutions over pre-evolutions any day, and I strongly believe that evolutions have better designs.

However, Misdreavus continues to be an exception for me.

It may be a tiny screaming head of a dead female floating around, but the big dreamy eyes and the little mouth are just to die for. *Bad pun*
Also, the glowing beads are so adorable! The hair may just look like gas at times, but that just makes the Ghost-typing that much more worthwhile.
*Wants to hug a Misdreavus all day if they ever existed*

Its HGSS official fan art is cuteness overload!

Not saying that Mismagius isn't cute, but the witch-theme and curvy smile just cannot be compared to its little bundle of cuteness of a pre-evolution.

RE: Pokemon that look better than thier evolved forms

I think grovyle looks a lot better then sceptile it may be because pmd 2 is my first game but sceptile just seems odd to me

RE: Pokemon that look better than thier evolved forms

I recently evolved my Spearow into a Fearow; Is the spelling correct?

Spearow looks much more adorable than Fearow since it has that weird Mohawk-like thing upon their head, Plus the beak looks, how should I say... 'wicked' and crooked-like, If that makes sense!

RE: Pokemon that look better than thier evolved forms

Poliwhirl > Poliwrath. I don't like how in the older 3D games, all Poliwrath did was flex in battle.
I also like Poliwhirl more, because Poliwrath looks like an uglier, beefier version of whirl.

RE: Pokemon that look better than thier evolved forms

Numel > Camerupt

I just like Numels design more than Camrupt, I still like Camerupt tho :)

Even though I kinda like Fearow, I have to agree with you on Spearow > Fearow. Spearow is a cuties <3

Now as for me...Glameow. It is adorable in its first stage and then it turns into a ugly, grumpy cat with a weird shaped head. Glameow, what did they do to you D:

RE: Pokemon that look better than their evolved forms

This is kinda new, but Chespin.

It turns from a semi-cute hedgehog chestnut thing into a hideous cushion version of itself.
I'm really hoping that this is more a 'pupa' stage, and its final evo will redeem it, but if it keeps up what Hariboogu has then I can sense that line is gonna be this gens 'Emboar'

Where did you find the artwork for Hariboogu?

It's on the front page.

RE: Pokemon that look better than their evolved forms

ARG. I checked literally a few seconds before the corocoro scans. :/

Also, I don't like the direction Fennekin has taken.
It's too bad the only cool one is the Water type.

RE: Pokemon that look better than their evolved forms

A big majority of cute pokémons!

Isn't it horrible to have your cute little oddish evolve into a gloom? :(

The one time I'm hoping Ash doesn't evolve his Grass starter.

Well personally I don't care if he even gets chespin but chespin is going to be the attention hog so it doesn't matter and personally I think it looks cute. Plus it's shaped like a ball which means it was more hedgehog based like i thought.

Gloom is my single favorite pokemon design of all time. It has a completely unique, freaky, bizarre look for a "flower" monster, especially the drool. And it's still utterly adorable.

What's horrible is that it evolves into the more generic, boring vileplume (despite being based on such a COOL plant) or even sorrier Bellossom.

That's the point. It's a vain cat that turns into a big, fat, pug-faced but STILL vain cat. Easily the best of all the overdone cat pokemon :p
