While everyone is grinning with excitement and waiting for a new batch of leaks, Pokemon X & Y has proven to be Nintendo and GameFreak's newest sensation among fandom and casual observers alike. One thing to note however, is that Generation 6 will quite possibly be the most interesting generation so far, because everyone will be getting the info at the same time.
I'm not talking about the whole Worldwide release thing, I'm speaking of the strength of the 3DS game cartridge. X & Y will be nearly impossible to rip data let alone images, and the lack of sprites will be interesting to see how sites like Serebii and Bulbapedia will construct their XY Pokedexes. Since there will more than likely be 700+ 3D models to deal with, and no viable Action Replay, or legal programs for data mining a 3DS game, we will have to rely on in-game screenshots. Some sites may have an advantage if transfer from BW1/2 is possible, but again, they would have to play through the game just to get to that point of transfer and then take in-game screenshots if possible. The one true winner to reveal all of the new Pokemon will be those who release an official strategy guide for the game, or those who get a review copy like WiiFolderJosh. Review copies are not uncommon nowadays as bloggers and game reviewers are currently playing Animal Crossing: New Leaf and are leaking bits of information (mostly just English localized names and stuff but still, they have an early copy).
It'll be interesting to see if review copies of X & Y get sent out to bloggers and site owners and reviews. Nintendo was smart enough to realize that Let's Plays are a great way for casual gamers to decide whether they want to buy the product or not.
But yeah, keep your eyes peeled for strategy guides as they will have all the info already, or at least all of it for the Kalos region while sites like Serebii, Bulbapedia and even Pokebeach will try and keep up. It's going to be interesting to see how all of this will go down, and if a certain webmaster has a top secret ultra illegal way to get his info like he does each generation. Here's a hint. I'm not talking about WPM. However, I don't think this particular webmaster will have the upper hand this time. The technology just isn't there.
This is going to be a bumpy and scary ride guys. I hope you all like roller coasters.
