Does anybody use pokedex in a competitive deck? I've used these on occasion to speed up slow decks by setting up what I will draw next turn or with a supporter. I find them pretty helpful, but am I sacrificing valuable deck space where I could put something better in?

It's really not worth it. You'd be much much better off using Research Records. But even then, almost noone plays them in the average deck, so it's hardly worth it.

Actually I like Research Records and Pokedex in decks that use Magnezone Prime because if I can only draw a few cards with Magnetic Draw I may as well control what I get.

Research Record is better in every way. But it's still not played. Basically, the issue with this card (and Research Record) is that it doesn't replace itself. In general, setup trainers/supporters with a negative net gain are going to be bad.

If you're concerned about what you topdeck, Slowking is probably a better option for you. But it's also pretty bad - be wary of its huge retreat cost.
