PokemanDan's Hand-Painted Playmats

Hey,

Took my hand at making my own playmats by hand, with the goal of them still 'fitting in' and not looking too shabby.

Use acrylics and coloured pencil to detail on a blank white mat.

Planning to do more soon, but they take time so hopefully I'll have more up here soon :)

Luxray Lightning Mat - Complete!

Very pleased with this one! The orange claw on the right was fixed before shipping to customer :)

Super Smash Bros. Mat - Complete!

Around the circle the finished mat had an orange glow.

Chatot Mat - Complete!

I don't think the picture does it justice. The text on the right says PokemanDan's Pokeclass!

Combee Mat - Complete!

This one took me around 4-5 days to complete from blank mat to finished product!

Let me know what you think.

Thanks,
Dan

Wow, that looks really neat! I would love it if I had the ability to make whatever playmat I wanted.:p
I don't know much about art, but the playmat looks great so good job, and keep up the good work:)
Are you going to be making more of these?

Yeah, hopefully I will be doing some more, they are pretty fun to do even thought they take a long time. The mats take about a week, maybe more, to get here but I really want to do a Chatot one :) Might start doing orders maybe?

would you maybe be interested in trading for some/custom orders. lmk

I actually would consider this.. Might make a thread in the Slateport Market if people are interested. Shipping and materials would be the main cost though (and time ;)) Trading up to the equivalent in price would also be great if there are cards that I need :D

LMK what your interested in?

Thanks for the comments

may I ask what material you use for the playmat and is it available pre-cut?

I really love doing artistic things with pokemon, i have a whole yt channel dedicated to it and I will porbably give this ago if it isn't to expensive to buy the material.

Also does the acrylic crack when you roll the mat up? I guess you just don't put on to much paint in one place.

Wow, that is just amazing. The way you drew the combee, marvelous. I would love if you could make me one :p

I bought them pre-cut from eBay and they are quite reasonably priced as I have to get them shipped to the UK. The acryllic doesn't crack either which is great :D I would maybe suggest applying something like fixative or a varnish but I haven't tried that yet. Due to a few mistakes, I did do three layers of yellow on the combee and it still doesn't crack. It's best to do a single layer cause then it just stains the mat rather than sitting on top.

Hope this helps.

I am considering making them for trades or if people are willing to buy them too? Looks as thought people would be interested :D and thanks for the comments!

just so you know, you won't be able to Sell them until you're a verified seller on here..but you can trade for them if you want

I love these! Would it be possible for you to quote some prices if you were ever to sell them? I live in the U.K so im not sure about shipping.

I know this is hypothetical but when you obtain verified seller status I'd most likely buy one if the price was right ;)

Yeah I realised that earlier. I've PM'd a mod to see if I'm allowed to sell my custom playmats before I bother applying.

I'm very willing to trade for them though :)

I also live in the UK so postage will be much easier :)

For a price.. it costs me £20 to get two blank mats over here so for one let's say £10. Then the time to do it plus materials I would say around £25-£30. If more people are interested I would be able to do them cheaper as I can buy more in bulk for a cheaper price (not sure if price discussion is allowed so sorry mods if this is the case ;))

I really like them, what's the next project/pokemon playmat you'll be doing then? A wider portfolio will create more interest...

LOVE IT - First search from Pokemon Playmat on google ;)

<3 your voice.

haha! First result?! Great!

I will be doing more, I just need to order some more mats over here. Will definately be doing a Chatot one next.

If people still like then I will be doing requests next.

P.S: Just had a PM back and I am allowed to seel them on Pokebeach yay :D I will probably set-up the shop and Slateport thread when/if I become a verified seller.

Thanks for your comments

I Like Shiny Flygon. But that would be really difficult to get a nice colour scheme around it ha ha. Can't wait to see what the Chatot one looks like :D!

@ Dan Gen

please PM me since i would very much like one custom made. We'll work something out

If possible, mind doing a Zangoose one? I'd gladly trade anything in here.
