Hello Pokebeachers! DarksoulSP with a HUGE announcement!!
In a few weeks, my school's Pokemon Club is hosting a Catchathon to try and raise money for Japanese relief. A bit of a shame that the Speed Gamers did something similar not too long ago since I've had this planned for awhile, but hopefully their efforts will have inspired others to help donate to the cause.
What is the Catchathon? We aim to capture all 649 Pokemon (minus the event legendaries) in Black and White versions over 4 nonstop days using one version of every Pokemon handheld game starting with Ruby and Saphire. No emulators or cheating/external devices will be used, so everything about it will be legitimate. The only "abuses" will be DS time changing for Seasons in B/W and D/P/P's Pal Park, as well as Emerald version cloning (although that is more debatable, even if it is internal).
We aim to stream the data of the 96 hours over the computer, just like the Speed Gamers, but since the game data is 100% legitamate and not emulated, there may be shaky camera work. Nevertheless, I urge you to watch our live footage and I hope that it will convince you to pledge money for the cause! Please, donate even a dollar once the event is up and running. Every little cent counts. I will put this same thread over multiple sites, but please, spread the word! If I could even get Front Page Coverage, that would be phenomonal. I owe a lot to Pokebeach and especially to Japan, and I know a lot of you feel the same way.
One last note! I plan on using a Paypal account to obtain the pledge money and I also plan on using a Wells Fargo bank account to directly donate the money to Japan. If anyone has a better idea of how to give them the money or, especially, run the event better, PLEASE let me know! Spread the word around and save up some money for the Catchathon! Thank you for your time!
