My friend works at the Pokemon Company (USA Branch, the one in Wisconsin) I was visiting him for the weekend, and I asked if I could see any new Pokemon. He said that he couldn't show me a Pokemon, but he could get away with a Mega Evolution. He showed me the Official art for Mega Reuniclus. I don't think it's finalized yet though. I tried to discreetly take a picture, but he noticed. He was fine with it, though, thankfully just wanted to show you guys this, won't be posting after this.

If you're gonna try passing off a fakemon as legit, at least don't show us the pic while it's still open in Photoshop.

Okay, yeah it was fake (if you couldn't tell), but I did have a lot of fun making it, so whatever!

Continuing with PMJ's advice; if you're going to try to pass a fakemon as legitimate, at least try to keep it coherent with the original design guidelines.

Actually, a friend of mine designed it, I just colored, linearted, and shaded it.

Rule #1 of making Fakemon to pass off as real: Don't admit you faked it after a single person calls you out.

Next time, come up with a decent story at least. What a waste of time.

PS: Is that EmeraldCobra an account just to try validate this fake, like that old trick of the guy who got healed by the healer!? :rolleyes:

Is there even a Pokemon office in Wisconsin? I thought the US offices were all in Washington state.

If I'm reading it correctly, they seem to evoke a wind-up key and a halo.

But again, that... thing... has pointed teeth, dual colored buttons for eyes, differently colored arms, claws and rabbit ears; though the design likely took cues from a rabbit plush and banette; I'm probably giving it a bit too much credit.

So yes, no sense indeed.

Y'know, I didn't design this. If you hate the design, it's not my fault. I tried to do an April Fools day prank a few days early, and it failed. Can we just forget about it?

Barring an already...strange...design, there are a few things you might want to address if you would like to try this sort of "prank" again in the future...

  • As far as I'm aware, the only PUSA branch, as PsychedelicBreakfast mentioned, is in Bellevue, WA. Such a simple, careless mistake led me (and likely many others) to pass off this as illegitimate even before seeing the "leak."
  • The old "my friend works at..." is overplayed, and is almost certainly a dead giveaway. Even simply stating you have a source that wishes to remain anonymous is somewhat more credible.
  • It seems Gamefreak essentially treats Mega Evolutions as new Pokémon anyway, so I'm not sure why your friend would let you get away with one instead.
  • The picture itself. The image is clearly open on a website browser/Photoshop window (you can see the tabs). Additionally, either the PUSA-WI branch has really nice desks complete with shiny sheets or you took a picture of your laptop on a bed. Try to avoid giveaway backgrounds next time.
  • Contradictions. You say it's the "official" art, and yet it's not finalized? At the end of your post, you say you aren't going to post again, and yet you post again to admit it's fake 45 minutes later.

Next time, try not to admit it so quickly. It was obviously fake, but wouldn't it be more fun to see some discussion first?

Well if you didn't try to pass it off as a fake then maybe we could get a better look at it ;o

Goofs aside I really like the design and the professional quality looks great. If you could upload the actual image I'd love to see it.

Okay, it seems as though Gallade understands the things that were wrong with the prank. From now on, please stick to commenting on the design of the fakemon. Thanks.
