I remember when i was kid that i loved to watch the pokemon. i would never miss it when it would come on, if i could help it, and would always rock out to the them song of the original pokemon episodes onward to the johto region. but that was when the interest stop and I went looking for more actiony/grown up anime like DBZ or code geass. so now i have this taunting question ... do you think they would ever make a pokemon series taylored to higher age group or is that just wishful thinking? please give me your thoughts i really want to know what everyone thinks!!!

RE: Anime Set for Older Viewers

Not in a million years.

They tried marketing shirts to the older crowd, and that didn't go so well. Don't count on the anime faring any better.

RE: Anime Set for Older Viewers

Making an anime aimed at older viewers is not too smart when most Pokémon fans are kids.

I'm not saying it couldn't be good, but it's just seems like too huge a risk for them to take, I think. Besides, Pokémon isn't meant to be "dark" or "adult" or anything like that. Not more than it already is, anyways.

I dont think that the new anime would have to be dark or adult in a sense lol. Avatar tha last airbender is a great example of what i am trying to say. this anime was orginally focused on a younger age group but to the serprise of the produces it attracted more kids in there late teens. i think a pokemon series similar to the last airbender's compination of humar and amazing action would make for a great series but i guess that is just me :D

there is a real life pokemon film apperantly but doesnt look very good and it does look abit more adult like but also looks very dark not sure if its real tho or the name might wont to check it out.

this sort of horror art style is what I'd like to see in a more mature anime.

RE: Anime Set for Older Viewers

"grown up anime like DBZ" - I wouldn't call DBZ mature but it's certainly different from Pokemon

And as PMJ said, they'd never do that.

I don't know about that, I've read some very interesting fanfics that appeal to an older crowd.

I also don't get the whole ideal that the pokemon have to look like they came straight out of a Stephen King novel to be more adult. They can actually look the same with the storyline being more adult.

RE: Anime Set for Older Viewers

The core audience is always children, and there will always be generation after generation of children who will find Pokemon on their level. They'll grow up with it, too. That's the strategy that's worked for the almost 20 years that Pokemon has been around.
