Prologue:

In a dark, small void, 2 gargantuan creatures sleep. Close to each other. Dangerously close, in fact. They lay in a deep, gay slumber. Everything was peaceful. Serenity everywhere. Suddenly, the serenity broke. A large void opened behind the two, and almost “commanded” them to awake. They woke up happily, but confused. One of the figures was all blackened, but glowing. Its ruby red eyes pierced the black, purple void in which they were all enclosed in. The other, exactly the same size with the same eyes, was glowing with a stupendous light body.

The two creatures seemed peaceful at first, but then, suddenly, all 3 began to glow. Their eyes turned red as cardinals, and their spirits blackened. The two spirits attacked each other viciously, as the third disappeared into the shadows. The other two creatures then disappeared as well, and fought one another throughout time. Even back to 1 B.C. Causing horrible and awful consequences wherever they went. And the third creature, waited…waited…waited…and laughed: maniacally.

“And that’s how it happened!” A young woman said, sipping tea. Her lemon-lime hair sparkled in the new morning sun. Her lab coat hangs over her body. She set the tea down as her glasses shone in the sunlight.

“Ha ha, if only! Bethany, you MUST be crazy. I mean, do you really still believe in those silly legends?” An old man asked to her.

“Well, we can believe whatever you can choose to believe. But, for now, I have two young men who are to get their first Pokemon today, so off you go, Samuel!” Beth smiled and pushed him out.

Oak closes the door behind him, and almost trips over a young man in a sleeping bag! He immediately woke from his deep slumber.

“Woah, wha-? Where? Who?” The boy stood up in his sleeping bag.

”Young man, did you sleep out here all night?” Oak asked loudly. “What’s your name, son?”

“Grayson*- my name is Grayson” The boy replied. He looked up at the sky, and realized that it was morning!

“AHHH! I’m late!” Grayson rushed into the lab. His spiky black hair was barely contained under his blue cap that was turned to the back of his head. His light blue vest was matching to his dark blue pants. He ran to the professor, bumping into a few other scientists. Grayson then stopped in when another boy stepped in front of him. He had a red shirt with black pants.

“Whoa, what the?” The other boy turned around.

“Hey, watch where you’re going!” Grayson yelled.

“My name’s Douglas. And if you think that you can just BUMP into people, then buddy, you’re sadly mistaken!” Douglas replied.

“Boys, boys! You’re not here to fight each other!” Professor Kauri turned around and greeted them both with a handshake.

“Mom, can’t I just get a Pokemon?? I want one!” Douglas said immaturely.

“Just because you’re my son, doesn’t mean you get special treatment!” Kauri responded

“S-son!” Grayson inquired. “You mean this rude jerk is your SON??!”

“Who’re you calling RUDE, moron??!” Douglas responded
“Now, now, boys. Why don’t you two just get along? After all, you’re going to be Pokemon trainers…” Professor Kauri looked out a window and observed a flock of Wingull fluttering by.

“It’s not all fun-and-games anymore, boys. You’ll be in the wilderness surviving with just your Pokemon. You’ll meet friends along the way, and some rivals. But, one thing’s for sure, you two. If you’re going to make it out there as a good trainer, you have to get along. Agreed?”

Grayson and Douglas looked down in shame, when Grayson finally said, “Yes ma’am.”

“Well, now then, let’s get out starter Pokemon, shall we?” Kauri said smiling.

“Grayson, since you were here first, why don’t you pick the first Pokemon?” Kauri suggested. Douglas tried to hide his envy, but a frown made its way upon his face.

“Douglas, you’ll have your turn” Kauri smiled.

Grayson thought for a while. He looked at the three Pokeballs that Professor Kauri let out on a table.

“Oh, well, you can’t tell which one you want without seeing them!” Kauri said. She threw the Pokeballs and out came three Pokemon.

“This one is Slithedge, the Snake Pokemon” She said, pointing to a small green snake-like Pokemon, with hedges growing out of its back and its pointed tail like a razor blade.

“This is Calfro, the Young Calf Pokemon” Kauri explained, pointing to a small, pudgy cow-like Pokemon with a fiery tail.

“This one is Elfatint, the Large Mass Pokemon” Kauri pointed out, showed Grayson a blubbery blue Elfatint-like Pokemon. It’s trunk was so large, that is consumed half its body.

“Hmmm…” Grayson pondered for a moment. He looked at all three of them, but couldn’t decide. Then, he looked in the back. He stood on his tiptoes, and could barely see a small purple egg on a desk. Grayson stepped carefully over the three Pokemon and went near it.

“What… what is it?” Douglas asked, reaching his hand towards the egg.

“It’s… an egg” Kauri responded in awe. She had never seen a child so taken with an egg.

Grayson stared at it for a long time in amazement. And finally, it began to glow white with a light glow. Grayson’s jaw fell down, and the egg transformed into a small, cuddly, spiky purple creature. It’s happy sunny eyes looked straight at Grayson, and leaped under his hat.

“Wow, I wouldn’t expect that an Affecti would be in the egg!” Kauri exclaimed.

“Affecti?” Douglas asked

“It’s the most affectionate Pokemon in the world. The first person that it sees when it hatches from an egg, well, it bonds to them forever. It loves them unconditionally.” Kauri explained.

“Wow, he’s great! I…I love him! He’s the perfect Pokemon for me!” Grayson exclaimed. “Can I keep him?” Grayson asked again.

“Well… he just hatched. I don’t know…” Kauri pondered.

“Oh, please, Professor?!” Grayson beseeched the Professor.

“Well, it is your 10th birthday. Sure, why not!” Kauri smiled.
“Wow, thanks, Professor!” Grayson gratefully thanked the Professor, while Douglas stared in the corner.

“Mom, isn’t it my turn?” Douglas asked.

“Of course, of course. Please, Douglas, choose whichever of the three starters you’d like!”

Douglas looked at the three, and then took a Pokeball. He pointed it at Slithedge, and returned it to the Pokeball.

“Well, well. I see you’ve chosen Slithedge! A wise choice indubitably!” The Professor commented.

There was a moment of silence. Outside the lab, the sound of a truck screeching its wheels on the pavement could be heard. Then, some doors slammed. Kauri looked alarmed, and peeked out the door. At that moment, two stiff, strong looking men put a bag over the professor’s body, and carried her away in the green, large van.

“Hey, wait! That’s my mom!” Douglas ran after them, with Grayson in hot pursuit. One of the grunts muttered,

“Let’s get back to Whistlelow Town and give the Professor to the boss.” He smiled, and dived into the van and road off.

“You heard them, Grayson! We have to get to Whistlelow Town. That’s just past route 702; which isn’t too far away.” Douglas said, jogging in front of Grayson.

“Grayson” a voice called from somewhere. Grayson looked to the other end of the town, and saw his mother! My walking, it disturbed Affecti who so comfortably made its way into Grayson’s hat.

“Mom!” Grayson ran to his mother, who had long orange hair and big, round glasses.

“Well, I just saw what happened! I really do hope the Professor’s alright. I also heard that you and her son are going to Whistlelow Town!” She asked. Grayson nodded.

“Well, no son of mine’s going to a dangerous area…” She paused for a moment, and reached into a box under her feet.

“Without running shoes!” She picked them up out of the box and handed them to Grayson.

“Thanks, mom!” He quickly untied his other shoes and put the new ones on. He then darted off in hopes of catching Douglas. Affecti was now ready, apparently, to stand on its own four feet and run. So it went right beside Grayson and they caught up with Douglas.

They made their way through the grassy Route 702, hardly running into any danger. A few travelers here and there, nothing too serious. Finally, they peered through a batch of bushes, and saw a sign reading, “Welcome to Whistlelow Town!” The two companions nodded and headed into the town. They noticed a van parked outside a large, intimidating building. Douglas stared at it with bug-eyes, swallowed loudly, and ran towards the van. The two men were unpacking Kauri.

“Hold it right there, scumbags!” Douglas ordered them. The two men stopped their actions to notice Grayson and Douglas standing opposite to them.

“Well, well. If it isn’t mommies little boy!” One of the grunts said in a condescending tone.

“Let her go, or we’ll fight you for here!” Grayson demanded. The two grunts looked at each other sarcastically, and agreed. They reached into their pockets and took out one Pokeball each.

“Go, Palxrame!” One of them let go of the Pokeball. A very small speckled Pokemon emerged out of the Pokeball. It’s mouth was smiling and its eyes were fierce.

“Go, Flirite!” The other let go of his Pokeball and a bird emerged from the red light. It wore an eye patch and had a hook at the end of its wing. Its hair was red whilst the rest of its body was gray with patches of white.

Douglas and Grayson ordered their two respective Pokemon, Slithedge and Affecti into battle.

“Why don’t the kiddies make the first move?” One of the grunts rudely suggested.

“Big mistake! Slithedge, use Tackle on Palxrame!” Slithedge followed the orders to the letter and charged towards the pixilated Pokemon. It seemed to do a fair amount of damage, as it was sent spiraling back to a wall.

“Grrr… you little-! Palxrame, use Head butt on Slithedge!” The end of Palxrame’s head charged towards Slithedge.

“Affecti, use Protect!” Grayson’s Affecti shielded both itself and Slithedge from Palxrame’s ferocious head butt.

Douglas looked at Grayson in a thankful way, and then was once again focused on the battle.

“Slithedge, use Razor Leaf!” The end of Slithedges’ tail shot leaves out of it at Palxrame.

“Flirite, use Whirlwind!” And Flirite sent the leaves hurling back towards Slithedge.

“Affecti, use Spectral Fang on Palxrame!” Affecti charged with its fangs glowing mysteriously. When it his Palxrame, it automatically knocked it out. Before the grunt had any time to respond, Douglas already commanded Slithedge, “Razor Leaf on Flirite!” He said. It caught Flirite so off guard as it was preoccupied by Palxrame’s defeat, that it hit it right in its face, knocking it out!

“W-w-what???!” The grunts were befuddled. They looked at each other, and tried to run with the Professor. However, Slithedge came up from behind them and bit their legs, causing them to fall to the ground. They slowly limped to the building next to them, and locked the door behind them. One of them shouted, “This isn’t over! Team Eco will one day control the 4 Mountain Spirits and rule the world!” He then slammed the door behind him, and locked it. Douglas ran to his mother and lifted the bag off of her body.

“Douglas, Grayson! Of my goodness, thank you so much!” She said thankfully. She hugged Douglas and praised Grayson.

“Let’s go back to the lab. I have a few surprises for you there!” The three made their way back to the lab safely, Slithedge and Affecti following behind them. As soon as they got there, Kauri surprised the boy’s with a Pokedex and 5 Pokeballs!

“Wow, for us?!” Grayson questioned excitedly.

“Well, sure. After all the hard work you guys did today, it’s the least I could do!” Kauri smiled, and they all did so with her.

Somewhere else, in a dark room, a man sat on a large chair, surrounded by many other people.

“I have failed, sir. We could not collect the Professor” One of the grunts admitted kneeling down to the man in a chair.

The man was silent for a moment, and then kicked the grunt.

“No matter” The man stepped out of the shadows. He had long green hair and was wearing a green and white shirt.

“We will obtain the four mountain spirits, and rule the world!!” The man then began to laugh maniacally and returned to his chair.

“As for the two children… well, we have our own special way of dealing with them”

And so, the adventure begins.
