Ruling Pokemon that become tools

I was wondering if it is possible to ko a pokemon(like unown g) that has been attached as a tool to another pokemon by using an attack that allows you to "choose one of your opponents pokemon" and do xx damage to it. I know it doesn't make much sense but I couldn't find a ruling against it to argue my friend, because unown g is still a pokemon even as a tool according to the compendium of rules.

Unown G counts only as a Pokemon Tool card when attached to something. You can't target it specifically with an attack - only what it is attached to.

Hippowdon LV.X's Sand Reset will remove Unown G from the field, and therefore, Unown G is not a Pokemon while attached.
