1. Do I have to sign up online to play in an official tournament or do I do that on location?

2. How many decks can you have at the tourney and are you allowed to change decks whenever you want?

3. How does one get to the World Championship Tourney?

1. Don't think so

2. You can only have 1, you can't change.

3. Win Nationals, have a extremely high premier rating, win the last chance qulifier, or get T4(not sure) at worlds during the previous year.

For 1, Some tournies require preregistration online. I know Fairfax does for Cities and Prereleases. Usually, though, it's sign up during registration before the tournament.
2 and 3 glaceon answered better than I can.

So a brand new player... who has never played any other major tournaments, theoretically, can sign up and play in the nationals and if they win they can go to Worlds? Is that correct?

I only ask because this year its in my hometown! San Diego!

Worlds invite is T8 at nats and the LCQ is never set amount of invites, it could be 4, it could be 34

^The Last Chance Qualifier. Glaceon already mentioned that.

From what I've heard the LCQ is a tough tourney. Top 8 at Nationals does get you in automatically, as previously mentioned.

from what i know about worlds you can get in a LCQ and atempt to win and actualy play in worlds. but if you still want to go you can always battle, trade and/or buy from vendors. i wish they would have worlds in orlando FL again i didnt even know it was there when it was =( (orlando is like a 2 and a half hour drive from where i live but it also depends on traffic)

Many thanks Gleceon and Scizorliscious for your answers...
It really helped me...
Actually I also didn't Know the answers of the questions what did ThirdEye asked..
;)

1. check you're league, talk to the organizer, as every league operates differently.

2. 1, the only time you're allowed more then 1 deck is league play.

3. That depends on two thing's, you're national rank and weather or not you make top four at nat's. If you get in the top 2 you go to worlds for free.

It's actually better for you to attend a league and talk to an organizer, they'll tell you all this and more, there's various things that organized play offer's so talk to a TO. cya
