Ok. I've been testing out Metagross for a week with proxys (I haven't played in any tournament nor do I have PTCGO). From what I have noticed, and this may sound rudimentary, but the deck functions like one big combo deck.
This is my first attempt at making a meta deck...and something that is aggressive. I've always played control, so this is way out of my comfort zone.
I thought there would be a bit more than just 'get the Big Guy up on his feet and send him swingin'
So I've been trying to streamline the deck to consistently get Metagross out T2...best case scenario is it's attacking that turn, but with Alolan Vulpix vying for front seats at the beginning of the game; T3# attacking isn't so bad either, it seems.
Big thing you'll see: no N.
I tried it, I didn't like how it functioned. I would usually find myself with a hand of Sycamore, a couple key cards that I'd like to hang onto, and some disposable cards. And shuffling your hand in and possibly getting them back didn't seem appealing. I'll sack a couple cards to draw 4. Sure, I'm taking a 3 card defecit, but I get to keep 2-3 cards in my hand that I'd rather have there than draw into anyway.
Plus, I noticed that in my dry runs, the deck seemed to not draw into Energy naturally as I'd have hoped. So, Professor's Letter. Get 2 energy, attach 1. Sycamore the other one for Geotech System later. OR. Letter for 2 aenervy, sack them for Sophocles, draw 4 with virtually no consequence; AND still fuel Geotech System.
The thing is that I've only been building the deck to streamline a T2 Metagross. And I think I found a goofy way to do it. I just don't know if there's something else I should be accounting for or what. Especially since all my testing is being done on a kitchen table.
Any thoughts?
