Quick questions.

Bursting Inferno states "each of the defending Pokemon are now burned". Does defending refer to both benched and the active pokemon?

If benched Pokemon are burned, are burn markers removed when these Pokemon is moved up to be active or must they be evolved or moved up then retreated in order to remove the burn marker.

Defendin pokemon are the pokemon in the fighting position, never on the bench. The second attack only works like that (burning two pokemon at the same time) in a 2vs2 battle. When there is only one defending pokemon, only that one pokemon is burned.

Correct. Benched Pokémon can't be affected by any Special Conditions. Any and all effects on either of your Active Pokémon go away once that Pokémon evolves, devolves, goes to the Bench, or somehow leaves play.
