Pre-US Nationals Discussion

Now that Nationals is exactly one month away, you can discuss the various things that have to do with Nationals.

  • What hotel are you staying at, if any?
  • What decks do you think will be popular?
  • What deck are you going to play?
  • When will you be arriving in Indy?
  • etc...

---------------

It looks like I'll be staying at a hotel about 8 minutes away because all of the hotels in downtown Indianapolis are booked. >.<

I'll probably get there at 3 p.m. on the 7th so I can preregister and play a few games before the main tournament. I'm not sure what deck I'll be playing yet, mostly because we haven't heard anything about the early rotation (even if we did, I wouldn't know what deck to play).

I have a feeling that if it is HGSS-on, Magnezone/Emboar will be popular along with Donphan/Machamp, Zekrom, Reshiram/Typhlosion, and all of the other varients.

RE: Pre-Nationals Discussion

Sadly, I couldn't attend mine (UK one). It was MD-CoL, which was very odd, meaning that no Magneboar or Cinccinos were around. I suspected that Magnegatr (one of my two decks), Lostgar and Jumpluff will be popular, alongside all of the successful Primes. It will be a strange format.
EDIT: Changed tense. I can't believe that I didn't realise that it's already been. Total n00bishness. -_-

RE: Pre-Nationals Discussion

They were? I thought that they were this weekend. Who won?

RE: Pre-Nationals Discussion

A vilegar player I think called Yaccine (Sami's brother). There were loads of vilegar and vilegar with machamp decks.

RE: Pre-Nationals Discussion

Well the top 8 was 4 vilegar, 1 luxchomp, 1 loxchomp, 1 chenlock and 1 dialgachomp I think.

RE: Pre-Nationals Discussion

I don't see how Sabledonk could have done well at UK Nats, because Black and White rules weren't in effect I believe.

Anyways I'm way too excited for US Nats this year, I am feeling a little bit under confident with my list, because I don't really know what the Meta will be like or how fast it is, because I have only playtested against myself... I wanna do better than last year, it would be wicked to top 16, but IDK if it will happen. I expect that a lot of Emboar variants will show up, but I honestly don't see them preforming well. Donphan Machamp is going to be the deck to look out for, assuming the list can set up on a Judge. I think that Crobat Prime will preform strongly, that is if anyone plays it :p I'm very interested to see how this tournament turns out, lets hope for a lot of Tyranitar...

RE: Pre-Nationals Discussion

Ah. Phew, so no donks did well. If I could have run ZPS or Cinccino, I probably would have worked something out to go. Thanks for answering all of these questions. ;)

•What hotel are you staying at, if any? No clue.
•What decks do you think will be popular? (HGSS-on) Reshiboar, Zekrom, Donphan, Zoroark, Cincinno, and Yanmega.
•What deck are you going to play? Machamp/Reuniclus or Samurphan...haven't decided yet.
•When will you be arriving in Indy? Probably the day before pre-registration.
•I'll also be there w/ a Zoroark plushie, and a Reshiram/Zekrom/Snivy t-shirt. If you see me, say hi!

We know for sure that Nationals will be HGSS-on: http://www.pokemon.com/us/news/op_2011_rotation-2011-06-08/

- I'm staying at a pretty cheap hotel about 15 min south of the convention center.
- Reshiram and Emboar variants, Donchamp, ZPS, T-Tar, Mewgar, Cinccino
- Some sort of Emboar deck I imagine.
- Should be getting into Indy around 5 or so on Thursday for preregistration.

Does anyone know of any good parking locations? I've looked around a little and all the places seem to be $20 or so for the day. Is there usually an event rate at the convention center that I could take advantage of?

Well if Nationals was at it's regular time, the last weekend of June, it would be next weekend. But they had to move it back 2 weeks.

I found what hotel I'm staying at. It's the Courtyard by Marriott South. It's like 10 miles from the city center. 0.o

Why did they move it back by 2 weeks?

I'm staying at some hotel, I forget the name
i'm arriving on the 7th.
Playing either Reshiboar or ZPS
All of the previously mentioned decks will be popular

I don't know why, but it is good for testing. Probably because of the rotation. I'll probably play Donchamp.

I heard that it was because it was already booked or something. But I like your idea glaceon. If it was the last weekend of June, it would've been awkward to rotate stuff. June 1st would've interfered with Battle Roads.
