Predict what cards will dominate at preleases

Just predict what cards will be good choices in the prerelease and explain why. The point of this isn't to try to correct mistakes. Just simply share what you think will dominate.

Prinplup
An uncommon card that might pop up in those 12 uncommons you get in your starting packs. Ice Blade is like the new empoleon's Dual Splash, but it only hits 1 pokemon. It has 80 HP, so it will stay for a few turns in a format flooded with basics. Ice Blade can destroy most basics in 2 turns in the prerelease, so even if you don't have empoleon, prinplup would still be a solid choice.

Scizor
With 5 special energy in the set, there's a chance your opponent will use special energy. Slap on a metal energy and punish them with special blow. Because of the limited amount of cards you can use, 80 damage will either knock out or put some serious hurt on a pokemon. If there are no special energy, use X-Scissor for a possible 90 damage.

Chatot
A common card that might be among the 42 common cards you get in your starting packs. For no energy, chatot can use mimic, which is basically a free Copycat. Any card in limited format that can draw cards is a good one.

Vaporeon
Ahh, vaporeon. Vaporeon has 2 attacks. The first is Cleanse Away. It costs 1 water energy and does a solid 30 damage. It also removes 2 damage counters from each of your benched pokemon. Anything that can heal can be considered. Plus, it 2HKOs a lot of basics, hopefully 1HKOs basics that are weak to water. The second attack is Hyper Whirlpool. It costs 1 water energy and 2 energy of any type to use. It deals 60 damage. You then flip coins until you get tails, For each heads, remove an energy attached to the defending pokemon. Very good in limited. Plus, with an Unown Q(see article below), it can retreat for free, allowing you to switch to another pokemon(possibly another vaporeon) that has removed all or most of its damage. If you don't use electric types, I would heavily watch out for Vaporeon and Prinplup.

Unown Q
What's so special about Unown Q? It has a mere 30 HP, it can deal only 20 damage, and it has no resistance. What makes it special? It's poke-power, Quick. By discarding every card attached to Unown Q, you can attach it to one of your pokemon. That pokemon's retreat cost will be reduced by 1. Most pokemon in limited have a retreat cost of 1, so you'll be able to retreat almost any pokemon you get for free if you use Unown Q.

Buneary
Now, you may be thinking "WTH?!" right now. But think about it. Buneary might be among those 42 commons you get in starting packs. Its first attack costs no energy and allows you to search your deck for any energy card and put it in your hand. It just says energy card, so you can even get things like metal energy and Call Energy(see below). This makes a good starter in the beginning of the game.

Call Energy
An energy that counts as colorless energy. It's just a normal colorless energy. That is, if you count a free call for family normal. Once during your turn, if Call Energy is attached to your active pokemon, you may skip your attack and get 2 basics from the deck and put them on your bench. A very good card in a format dominated by basics. Any pokemon can use this power if they have a Call Energy attached, so be absolutely sure to use it if you get it as well as watch out for it.

The birds and Mewtwo will probably see a good amount of play, domination with them though, I don't really think so.

Mewtwo will be abused alot
lol
1 mewtwo and 39 psychic energies lol jks jks
yea
scizor will be used ALOT at the pre-release
maybe some Empoleons
allong with some phiones if anyone gets any

Doing some articles on the legends.

Mewtwo
Like take-it-easy said, Mewtwo will be one of the more used holo rares, since it's a basic and requires no other cards to use it. Besides psychic energy, of course. Mewtwo's first attack, energy absorption, costs no energy and allows you to search your discard pile for 2 energy and attach them to mewtwo. Its second attack, recover, makes you discard a psychic energy attached to Mewtwo. You then remove 6 damage counters from Mewtwo. It won't save you very often in any format outside of limited, but in limited, it can be a beast. Removing 6 damage counters will be like eliminating 2 or 3 turn's worth of damage most of the time. Its last attack, Psyburn, costs 1 psychic energy and 2 other energy and deals a solid 60 damage. A beast in limited.

4 Mewtwo + 36 Psychic energies!! FTW lol
just like my GE Pro-Release
2-2-1 Togekiss
1 Latias
2 Igglybuff
1 Amulet coin
Rest energies lol

Moltress ?
umm the only combo i see it for is infernape discard for attack then get them again with molters pwr. but i really like manetric 1 for 30 and parylze. and 70 for 2 that is awesome that is cool and at least 40. i like that with raichu free retreaters i like that.

Aipom (#50)
Aipom is a good choice for the prerelease. It's a common card, so it's fairly easy to get. Its second attack, Hand Trick, deals 20 damage and returns itself and every card attached to it to your hand. This can prevent your opponent from drawing a prize card.

Sudowoodo
When I saw this card, I thought how it could be good in limited. I found out how it's a solid choice. Its first attack, Flail, costs 1 energy and deals 10 damage for every damage counter on Sudowoodo. Since it has 80 HP, without calculating weakness and resistance, it can deal up to 70 damage. That's quite risky, though. But its second attack can help. Wood Hammer, its second attack, costs 2 fighting energy to use and deals 50 damage. However, Sudowoodo takes 30 damage. This can combo with Flail to make a combo, and you need every combo you can get in limited.

Phione (#12)
I nominate Phione for 1 reason: its first attack, Evolution Wish. It costs 1 energy and you get to search your deck for a pokemon that evolves from one of your pokemon, then you evolve it. A great card in a format with no rare candy.

Manectric
A very good card in this format. Manectric has 2 attacks. The first is Thunder Wave. It costs 1 lightning energy and deals 30 damage. You get to flip a coin. If heads, the defending pokemon is paralyzed. Status conditions are deadly, but they're even deadlier in this format where you don't see Warp Poit very often. Its second attack is Volt Crush. It costs 2 energy: 1 lightning energy and 1 of any type. It deals 40 damage, but you get to flip a coin. If heads, it deals 70 damage instead! But you have to discard a lightning energy attached to Manectric if you flip a heads. It also has free retreat, so that's a bonus. It's an uncommon card, so it's a decent, semi-common choice.

Monferno
Monferno is quite the stage 1. Its first attack, Fire Fang, costs 1 fire energy, deals 30 damage, and burns the defending pokemon. If you get lucky, pokemon with 50 HP will get knocked out after the burn check. Its second attack, Mid-air Strike, costs 2 energy and deals 30 damage. You flip a coin. If it's heads, it deals 60 damage instead. Like Manectric, it has a free retreat cost, so you can use a hit-and-run method with the burn, if hit-and-run is your style.
