Prerelease Question Get the cards without playing?

I can no longer go to the prerelease that i planned on attending for Undaunted because of a wrestling tournament. This is really the only prerelease that is close to me and i am really bummed that i will be missing it. My dad offered to go to the prerelease and get the packs and a theme deck for me but my question is... can he get them without having to play. He is by no means a pokemon player and is just trying to do my a favor. so.... is it possible for him to buy the packs and the theme deck without having to play.... and would he have to forfeit the participation prize? Thanks in advance for any help.

RE: Prerelease Question

I think that you should encourage him to try it. he may find that its pretty fun, and even if he doesnt want to continue doing it, he will realize why you enjoy it. But you can usually just get the 6 packs, sleeves and promo.

RE: Prerelease Question

its really up to the organizer, but its worth a try for six packs, right?

RE: Prerelease Question

Unfortunately HS Undaunted looks like it's gonna be a bad set anyway, so you really didn't miss out on anything. Really there's like only 2-3 playable cards in this set including pre-evolutions of course.

I'll still play in the Pre-Release just for kicks, but I'm not sure If I wanna buy a booster box compared to how good HeartGold/SoulSilver Base Set was and Unleashed had some pretty good cards as well.

Don't listen to this guy. He's to critical when it comes to cards. There's many awesome cards like Vileplume, Umbreon, Kyogre/Groudon Legend, and many more. Get the cards!

Yeah, wrong.

Undaunted is gonna kick serious butt. With Espeon Prime, Vileplume, and Umbreon, it's gonna be good. I'd tell your dad to give it a shot. Teach him how to play, and he can go into the prerelease and play in your place. He'd probably enjoy it, but if not, it's worth a try. Hopefully you're Organizer's nice.

RE: Prerelease Question

All you have to do is get him to sign up and then scoop in the first round.

RE: Prerelease Question

It's pretty simple to teach somone how to play at Pre-Release. Revolve your deck around the most of one type you have. Eg. if you have many water and colorless do a deck with those.

Wow. So many anti-Undaunted people all over the place. I thought Undaunted would be popular because of all the Revived Legends cards people wanted are in that set that is not in Unleashed. But alas, it is not the case. I guess TheJWittz just used that excuse to bash Unleashed.

How about you have your dad compete in your place and tell him to get some people to build a deck for him. Have him participate so he can receive the cards for you.

(Side note: I hate 90% of Clash at the Summit cards that are gonna be released, not attending any prereleases or buying any individual packs or boxes on that **** because I have better things to burn money on, like Twinkies, Ice Cream, McDonalds, and tons of Pepsi, I'll just buy the cards from trool and toad which are like under 10.):p

Dude I don't see what they could do if you give them the money get your packs and walk out without them noticing, its worth a shot

You would miss out on the 2 extra packs after the tournament though.

I actually think Undaunted is going to be a great set, always have.

Straight answer: Yes

they give out the packs first, and then you are given 30ish minutes to open and build decks before the competition begins. you can always walk out, but do tell the organizer first so they can rearange the brackets.
also, you wont be able to get the two additional packs from the booster pack and theme deck tourney.
my opinion, ull be paying $25 for one theme deck, and $25 for just six booster packs as you wont be able to get the rest of the packs until after the tournament

If it is a theme deck challage, don't do it!!! (Enless he particapates) Then you are paying $25 for just a theme deck, just wait till the cards come out for the theme deck, but, have him try to get the 6 booster packs for $25. It is worth a shot. The others are right too. Once you get your 6 packs just walk out, but, tell the organizer first!

If you can, I would teach your dad to play so you can get the sleeves and 2 packs. He doesn't have to win either. Besides, where I live the judges are nice enough to help you build a deck anyway.
