Pressure Cooker: Rouge Deck Idea (Entei Ex, Groudon Ex, Volcorona)

L

LunarWolf

Hey everyone! :D

I'll start off with a quick introduction ;). I haven't played Pokemon (TCG anyways) for about two and a half years, but this past week I decided to get back in the game. I've been reading up on the metagame recently, and after browsing through card scans I think I've come up with a pretty decent deck. I *may* being going to battle roads this weekend just to test it out.

Anyways I'll move on to the list:

EDIT: Thank you so much for the advice Emperor and Materious17!!!! Yeah I had a bit of a brain fart I suppose, but, taking into consideration your advice I've changed a lot of the deck. Last night I bought a few TCG packs and I got a Tornadus EX and alternate art Reshiram :D

Entei Ex is the main attacker, with Volcarona's ability to help with the burn damage between turns, and Energy charge-up for the bench. Reshiram is a back-up attacker mostly, while Tornadus can do some quick damage for free retreat (w/skyarrow bridge) and possibly get some energies in the discard pile early on. I didn't want to take out Groudon Ex, he's my buffer against Darkrai/Zerkom/Zorak, and he *can* do great damage, all for (relatively) little energy.

Solrock to donk Darkrai EX? Dealing 40 damage over the course of 5 turns to KO Darkrai EX is not a donk. They can simply switch out of the effect of Sun Flash thanks to Darkrai EX's Ability. Throh is essentially Pokemon Circulator (UL) but it deals 30 damage. This will not help in anyway and is just a waste of energy. Nobody would be foolish enough to blindly attack Sigilyph with Mewtwo EX, and if they do, then they deserve to lose. You'll often find that it'll get catcher'd around, or simply just get attacked while you're charging it on the bench. Volcarona as an attacker is fairly risky with all the fast decks that are out right now. It may be able to survive a hit from a Darkrai EX (if it doesn't have Dark Claw attached) but you'll lose the prize race as you're rather dependant on DCE to keep up.

What you could do here is just switch this into a Entei EX/Volcarona based deck and just try to utilise Volcarona DEX Ability to amplify burn damage. This will of course mean that you'll need to obtain at least 2 more Entei EX, but just 1 more would be ok.

3 Entei EX
2 Groudon EX (I suggest switching this to Tornadus EX or even the regular Tornadus to avoid the energy clash)
2-2 Volcarona DEX
1 Shaymin UL
2 Smeargle UD

Now i know you'll mostly likely not be able to get all the cards needed for this deck, especially if you're considering going to Battle Roads next week but think of this as what you'd like your deck to eventually look like.

Entei EX being your main attacker means that you won't be hitting for amazing damage most of the game. So to compensate you'll want to add cards like Super Scoop Up to save Entei EX from being KO'd. If anything you want this deck to be as close to a Darkrai EX/Tornadus EX deck as you can make it, but of course minus the energy acceleration and spread.

Another thing, your Sigilyph vs. Mewtwo idea is completely made up.

Sigilyph's move Psychic Assault does 10 more damage for each damage counter on the defending pokemon, not on yourself.

So in order for him to OHKO a mewtwo even if the mewtwo isn't running an eviolite, that Mewtwo would need at least 30 damage on him for you to do 140 (that includes the S.E.) for the KO.

Plus all Mewtwo would have to do is run his {C}{C} energy and put on an extra {L} energy for the OHKO on your Sigilyph that runs an eviolite.
