Kingdra could become meta!


Pros:

Growth for a ancient trait means that you can attach 2 energy from your hand is really good.
Dragon Blast does 150 damage + silver bangle = 180 damage to EXs, and a lot of OHKOs on EX and non EXs (Excluding Megas)
Can be paired up with deluge Blastoise, and BB Black Kyurem
Gather Strength gets you 4 energys for a colorless
Rare Candy is in the set so you can skip Seadra

Stage Two Pokemon

I've played with Greninja XY and Kingdra PLF and it's do able to set up multiple Stage 2's per game, I haven't played under item lock do I'm not sure how that's going to work.

Under Item lock Stage 2 decks pretty much die. Without Rare Candy it's just too slow, and most people run 3-1-3 lines, meaning they would only be able to get out one Kingdra, which would be OHKOed anyway. The damage is pretty good, but being a Stage 2 and having 130HP is too much of a con for it to be viable. Pretty much every deck in the meta can hit for 130, thus making all your set up useless.

I think it could work well with the PLF one. Discard energy with Dragon Blast to power up Dragon Vortex.

I played against someone who had Manectric / Kingdra built up. I beat it, but it did get a Kingdra up pretty quickly and OHKO'd an EX on my side of the field. It didn't draw too hot late game though.
