Rainbow Energy

This card provides Energy. While in play, this card provides every type of energy but provides only 1 Energy at a time. When you attach this card from your hand to 1 of your Pokémon, put 1 damage counter on that Pokémon.

Question:

Ok, my question is simple. I saw a dude deck with those cards. He was with a Skarmory EX (xy) as active and those pokemon at bench as supporters. He only use special energy. Ok, on his turn, he use Aromatisse Ability to transfer darkrai energies to skarmory (as fairy energies). Then, he says that special energies turned into metal energies (but once was fairy to be transfered) and attacked me. So, thats is possible? I thought rainbow and prism energy can be only one type of energy for turn. Please help !

Thanks !

(sorry my english)

Rainbow and Prism Energy are all types at the same time, but only provide one type at a time. While he was moving the Energy, they provided Fairy, when he retreated for free, they provided Darkness, when he attacked, they provided Steel.
