Ruling Protection Cube question

Hi.

Would Protection Cube keep Gourgeist from getting the effect of the Spirit Scream Attack?

Just curious.

No it would not. Spirit Scream places damage counters. Protection Cube prevents Damage from attacks. It is the classic Damage vs Damage Counters placement scenario

We really need to put this in the FAQ:

The way I once heard it is that doing damage is like being punched, and placing damage counters is like God.

Humor aside, the origin of the 'damage' is different. For example, a punch to the face is going to feel a whole lot different than a cloud of smoke, right? The cloud of smoke would harm you but wouldn't be direct physical damage. A similar principle applies to Pokemon here.

Now I must go hang myself for making stupid analogies about a trading card game.

The Damage Counter "equivalent" for Mr. Mime would be Espeon BW92, but there's none that blocks both Damage and Damage Counters in a same card as of now.
