When Primape (GE) attacks and flips a coin to see if the defending pokemon can't attack next turn, what if Primape knocked out the defending pokemon with his attack? Can he still flip a coin and prevent ANY defending pokemon from attack? or would the effect only stop the pokemon taking damage from attack?

Well,if he is for sure knocked out by the attack then you don't have to flip. Also he cant prevent any Pokemon from attacking, only the one that was hit by the attack.

Hope I helped. :)

If an attack says "Defending Pokemon", it's referring specifically to the one taking damage.

Remember, you resolve the entire attack at once -- first damage, then any other effects, then check for any Knocked Out Pokemon. So the effect gets placed on the current Defending Pokemon, which is then sent to the discard since it's Knocked Out.
