Ruling Question about attacks.

We ve come across a very basic (a bit noobish) question that we realy can get the right answer. Bear with me:
-> Salamence delta from DS is the active pokemon and it has 3 fire energy cards and 1 delta rainbow card.
-> The player declares that salamence will attack using its second Delta Blast.
-> Salamence uses delta rainbow as metal energy to pay the attack cost.
-> Delta Blast requires salamence to discard a METAL ENERGY CARD.
-> Since Salamence has no Metal cards attached to it does:

a) The attack fails.
b) The attack works but you do not discard a energy card.

Thanks :)

Q. For Salamence's "Delta Blast", can I discard any Energy card that provides Metal because of Holon Research Tower?

A. Yes. You could discard one of your basic Energy cards attached to Salamence if Holon Research Tower is in play because they provide Metal Energy as well as their normal basic energy type. (EX: Delta Species FAQ; Nov 3, 2005 PUI Rules Team)
d-Rainbow energy CAN be used as a metal. Any card that provides Metal energy can be used as a discard for the attack.

Any energy that would provide any Type of energy such as Multi, Rainbow, Double Ranbow, δ Rainbow, Holon's energy, etc. must be discarded in any way as it says it provides all types of Energy. Here's another case about these kind of problems.

Q: When I use Mega Shot with Manectric EX to a Pokemon, and Manectric EX has 2 Lightning and 1 Ranbow Energy, must I discard all the Energies or only the two Lightning?
A: You must discard all Energy attached to Manectric EX as Rainbow Energy provides as all Energy, including Lightning.

There ya go. This case is similar to your case. So, you have to discard the δ Rainbow Energy due to it providing all types of Energy including Metal. Hope this solves your problem.

cuz it states Metal energy card... which is diferent from Metal energy.

When you say Metal Energy you include energy provided from d rainbow, double rainbow, magntrode, etc...And normal Metal energy card.
When you say Metal Energy Card you don't include energy provided from d rainbow, double rainbow, magntrode, etc... ONLY normal Metal energy card.

You don't need to question the logic of it. The Compendium states how Salamence-d's Delta Blast can be played despite the wordings. Just accept the answer cause the Compendium is the rulebook for ruling questions.

I second Zombie-Abhorsen's point. Even though it states "Metal Energy card" you must discard an energy card that provides metal, otherwise you can't use the attack because you can't pay the attack's cost.

even though you understand the question now, I am still going to tell you the answer. you have to discard 1 thing that provides metal energy
