Question about Competitive Events

I was wondering if someone could explain each of the competitive events to me and how they work, like Battle Roads, Cities, Regionals, States, Nationals.

The official pokemon website will explain all the events to you. All the events are all the same in terms of structure, the only real difference is the scale of the tournament (Battle Roads are usually smaller scale events: never a huge turnout) and the amount of championship points/prizes the tournament yields (Battle Roads yield very low championship points, however compared to States or Regionals they yield much higher championship points because they are much larger events)

The only important thing to note is Nationals are no longer "free" to eneter so-to-speak. you need a minimum amount of play points to enter. So it's kind of like a pseudo-invite event. (Play Points are given to you for just participating in events)

The difference is the stuff you can earn and the frequency of the tournaments. Another major difference is the level of seriousness. You can probably get away with playing an experimental deck in stuff like Battle Roads but it'd be suicide to play anything not "playable" come Regionals or Nationals.

Basically, Battle Roads and probably Cities are more relaxing environments compared to Nationals or Regionals just because of the stuff at stake.

It also matters for your "accomplishements" winning a Battle Roads can be ignored while winning a Nationals is indeed bragging rights and something you will be known for.
