Ruling question about houndoom ge

i wanna know if this is correct

a friend of mine has a houndoom with a fire and a dark special attached to him and he uses his second attack and discards the sp. dark does the attack give me 80 or 70 since he discarded the dark energy the effect of plus 10 is no longer in play answer me please

The damage would be added. I forget how exactly damage is calculated, but the energy adds it before it gets discarded.
