Hi, I am really in unchartered waters trying to put together a full diamond and pearl deck for our 8 year old. So far I have all the non reverse foils, all the reverse foils, the 17 holos and am trying to get the 3 lv X holos. My questions are which cards are considered "ultra rare" in the deck, what does the ultra rare symbol on the card look like (if in fact there is one) and finally, why do the cards say 1/130 etc... and I only have 127?

many TIA for any help!!!!!

Whoops, one more .... how can you tell a reverse foil from an ordinary card, they looked the same to me and I want to make sure I didn't get ripped off?
Thanks again :)

Ok. The numbers at the bottom of the card, like 1/130 and 77/130 are the set numbers. The reason you only have up till 127 is because 128, 129 and 130 are the Lvl. X cards.

You can tell if a card is common, because at the bottom right of the card there is a circle. If a card has a Diamond there, then it is an uncommon. If there is a star there, then it is a Rare, if there is a star there and the picture is holographic, then it is a Holographic Rare.

There are many cards that are considered "Ultra Rare" by the simple fact that they are so popular. But they do not neccesarily have to be a Rare or Holographic Rare to gain that. Budew is a good example of this.

"Ultra Rare" Cards in a set are the Ex cards (from the EX series(s)) and the Lvl. X cards from the Diamond and Pearl series.

Reverse Holographic cards in Diamond and Pearl series(s) have the whole card holographic, whereas in the Ex Series(s) the Picture would be holo (when it normally wouldn't be) and it would have the set logo on the bottom right of the picture. But the already Holographic Rares in the Ex Series(s) would have gold writing for the name and HP as well.

Glad I could be of help. If you have any other questions, don't hesitate to ask.

Small correction: If a card has a diamond, its Uncommon, not common. Otherwise, Krucifier is absolutely right.

Ok, thanks so much for your help, I think my brain is nearly wrapped around the whole thing. But you bring up something I've never heard of. What is the Ex series??? Are they part of the DP series and are the different than the DP level X??? And I'm still unsure of how to tell the difference between reverse foil (as opposed to holo foil) and ordinary cards - because the two decks sent to me by the same seller look the same and I'm afraid I've been ripped off!

thanks so much for all your help so far!!!!

Actually alot of foils if you look carefuly from DP are foil everywhere. reverse is when It`s foil everywhere except the picture. And krucifer was right about the ex series as they had both types of foil the on I mentioned and he one he mentioned.

The Ex series is just a bunch of sets of cards that have Ex cards in them. Ex cards are "extra" powerful and some examples of the ex series is like EX Deoxys and EX Delta Species. They always have the "EX" before the name to be an EX Series. An example of an ex card is below. Hope I helped you!

This helps but also raises a bunch of new questions for this novice whose mind is currently turning circles at something an 8 year old apparantly handles masterfully. Are there ex cards that are part of the DP series that are apart from it... ie that I need to purchase separately... or do they appear as part of the normal deck, in which case I will already have them. BTW I got the 3 LV X that I needed to complete the 130 cards so I'm just thinking I'm finished and now I think maybe I need to go search for some mysterious exs *sighs*

Also if anyone can post a copy of a genuine reverse foil card - as opposed to a holo so I can check them against mine to make sure mine are real I would really appreciate it. I'm sure our 8 year old will be able to spot a counterfeit and leave me looking like a dork!

Thanks so much everyone for answers that I've been trying to get for so long and couldn't get anywhere else.

In awnser to your new questions, the EX series were a series of cards before Diamond and Pearl. Investing in them would be a waste because the last of the EX series will rotate out/become banned/unusable, however you want to call it, from Tournaments.

An example of a reverse foil card from Diamond and Pearl would be this:

As you can see, the whole card is foil.

Once again if you have any questions, dont hesistate to ask.

There are no ex's in the diamond/pearl sets. They are the old equivalent of the new lv.x's, which started in dp.
