What ecactly is the diff. between a Poke Body and a Poke Power?

2-examples- Ampharos-SW has a Poke Body that says--After your opponent plays a Supporter card from his or her hand, put 1 damage counter on each of your opponent's Pokemon. You can't use more than 1 Jamming Poke-body each turn.

I assume this means you can use it from the bench or as your active Pokemon, but can't use more than one Ampharos Poke Body at a time.
Is this correct?

Example #2- Claydol-GE has a Poke Power--Once during your turn (before you attack), you may choose up to 2 cards from your hand and put them on the bottom of your deck in any order. If you do, draw cards until you have 6 cards in your hand. This power can't be used if Claydol is affected by a Special Condition.

I assume this means you could use more than one Claydol and also use it from the bench or as your active Pokemon. In other words, if I had 2 of them in play I could use the effects of both during the same turn. Is this correct?

I guess what I would also really like to know, is there general rules that apply to all Pokebody and another set of general rules that apply to all Poke Powers. Trying to figure out why they are called two diff things, but seem to do the same type things.

Any help on explaining it to me would be a big help,

Ken

Thanks for your help,

Ken

clydol says on it once during your turn so of course that means you can only use it once.

But if I had two Claydol's set up I could use both of them right?

A Poke-Power is an active effect. You must explicitly use it in order for its effect to take place. Its use is optional.

A Poke-Body is a passive, continuous effect. It is always active as long as the Pokemon that has it is in play, its conditions (if any, such as "when [Pokemon name] is on your bench") are met, and nothing is disabling them (like Cessation Crystal). Also, the effects of Poke-Bodies are not optional -- they must be applied if possible, whether you want them or not.

Yes.

Yes. A restriction on using a Poke-Power (such as "once during your turn") is only applicable to that specific instance of that Poke-Power. To use your example, if you have multiple Claydols in play, you can use Cosmic Power once for each Claydol.

The exception are those Powers that say "You can only use one [name] Poke-Power each turn". That is a global restriction.

Thanks for the detailed response Chairman Kaga. That is a huge help to me when I'm trying to figure out when and how to play Poke Powers and Bodies. I was having a hard time with some of them. Your explanations have cleared a lot of things up for me.

Your help is appreciated,

Ken
