Ruling questions on evolution and energy

I have four questions:
1. If you evolve a pokemon from a baby (ex. magmar from magby), are they still considered basics as well as evolved pokemon, or just evolved?

2. Does Dark Metal energy (EX Holon Phantoms) count as a darkness energy and a metal energy for effects that search for that energy (ex. Holon Researcher)

3. If a card tells you to "discard a {type} energy attatched to this pokemon," can you discard rainbow energies that are providing those types of energies (and can you discard the Dark Metal I asked about in Q.2)?

4. Do different color basic energies have the same name (for the old Arcade Game card)?

Sorry, I misinterpreted.

For no. 1, Since you evolved, it is an evolved pokemon. Since It's still a basic, well, it's still a basic. So yes, it would be considered a basic, and an evolved pokemon.

2. It depends. I don't know what the phrase on Holon Researcher is. If it says "M Energy CARD" then you can only pick a Basic or Special Metal Energy, not a Dark Metal one. If it just says M Energy it should be fine.

Just a little clarification/example for number 1.

Since it counts as an evolved Pokemon, Machamp's Take Out will not knock it out in one hit.

1.Its considered to be only an evolved pokemon, not a basic,so it will not be able to use effects of snowpoint temple and will not be affected by take out.
2.No.Since the holon researcher refers to a metal energy card, you cannot take it.
3.Yes
4.I dont know what you are asking about....

So, who should I believe for #1? Both basic and evolved or just evolved (not basic)?

IT CAN BE BOTH.

A Basic Pokémon can be considered either evolved (having a Baby or Basic Pokémon card below it), or unevolved (not having one below it). So just becuase it's Basic doesn't say anything about whether it's evolved or not. You'll just have to check for a card below it.

If you evolve a Pokemon, it is considered evolved. If you don't evolve it and put it down as a basic, it is considered a basic pokemon. No overlap, just two different situations. That is why you need to check for a card below it- to see if it is evolved or not.

Ok thanks, because some cards say "attach only to an evolved pokemon" and then "if [card] is attached to a basic, discard it"
(why not say discard if attached to an unevolved, that would be clearer, simpler, and more in line with baby evolution)

but anyway, this post can now be locked ( I have all of the info I need)
