1. i read that we were able to use cads from older sets but only if they were reprinted on a newer one, so, are we able to use pluspowers from base set and base set 2?

2. with the new dp vocabulary, is PETM able to search for any pokemon in the deck?

Question 1: I'm not 100% sure of the text on the older cards so I'll leave this one open for another person to answer.

Quesiton 2: PETM, can only get Stage 1 or Stage 2 Pokemon. It cannot get Lvl Xs (they are not considered evolution cards), and of course it still cannot get Basics. It's pretty much a dead card with Bebe's being the card of choice for searching for Ex's or Lvl X's and Celios being able to search for all Pokemon except Ex's.

You cannot play the older version of Plus Power because there is a difference in the text. In the old version, you will add the 10 damage AFTER applying weakness & resistance but in the new one, you will add the 10 damage BEFORE applying weakness & resistance. Therefore, you cannot use it..
 
Yes, to Go further into what PPM said, it's the same as the TMvTA DRE.

Before and After adding weaknesses makes a Big Difference.

Lets just say, the Weakness is x2 and you do 50 Damage.

So, 50 x2 = 100 - 10 [For DRE]. = 90.

50 - 10 = 40 x2 = 80. Well, that's the perfect Logical Explanation.

The same thing goes with PlusPower from Base. :)
 
Actually, you can still use it, but you need to use the card as if it were the latest version, for example, even ancient dark energies now have no effect on darkless Pokémon. It's not really advised as it may cause confusion, but I'm pretty sure it's allowed.

Aquajet_23, he said "except Ex", not "except Lv.X", you are both right.
 
Are you sure? I went for my Cities, i used a TMvTA and a Base PlusPower, i asked the TO he said i had to replace the before the tourney Started.. O_O.
 
I guess some TOs don't want to take the risk, but I don't think it's in the official rulings. As far as I know, old cards have to be played according to their latest version, so I don't see why they wouldn't be allowed.

If i remember the rule states you can use the older cards PROVIDED you also have at least 1 copy of the newer card and fully understand the changed text EX.(deck has 4 pluspowers at least one of them has to be new).. And look, some of us even use the neo genesis dark energies.. that's all i know.. lett's wait for chairman kaga to solve this

Actually there is an errata in the DRE from TMTA..

rules for older cards are as follows...

If you have an older card with a significant text change, then you MUST have an outside reference of the newest available card, which is kept OUT of the deck.

IMO its better not to use the older cards if you can avoid it.
