It has to be an pokemon from a different region; But here it's about 50/50 of french and english.., So some of us use the french version which was packed with the english version! When we trade each other the pokemon have the little square in the corner; FRE for french and ENG for english... But do these count towards the masuda method?

Thanks for the help!

I'm not 100% positive (but pretty sure) that Masuda Method has nothing to do with what language you have set but what country you have set as your home region. So, if you have "Canada" set as your home region the Masuda Method will only register when you trade Pokémon from a different country, but an English or French Canadian Pokémon (whichever you're not using) will not set off the extra chances.

How Masuda Method works is you need to use a Pokemon caught natively in your game (let's use Pikachu as our example) and then any Pokemon in a compatible Egg Group, and the opposite gender, or Ditto (let's use a Japanese Ditto).

The Method for hatching a shiny Pichu would be 1 in 1365 in Generation VI, or 5x the odds of finding a shiny regularly (1 in 8192). Factor in the Shiny Charm which takes those odds and makes them 1 in 512.

thanks for the help! I've been "masuda'ing" for a shiny magikarp; I got it from wonder trade and it's french... But I'm starting to wonder if it's a loss cause x.x
