Even though America has it's first black persident, believe it or not, there are still racist in America. Although things have changed, what do you think about how Blacks where treated in the past.

Here are a few headers about how they were treated-

Blacks:

Couldn't drink from the same water fountain where the Whites drank from.

Couldn't be a president.

Couldn't sit in the front row of the bus.

The majority of them were slaves (in South America).

Were treated as outcasts.

Those are the few things I can post for the moment.

Tell me what you think? It is cruel to treat someone just because they have a different color of skin...Don't you think?


You can also state your opinion of other types of racism, of how you feel about the whole thing and if you are[/ii] a racist, please don't curse about this thread. You'll be banned if you do anyway...
 
I don't see any point in beating a dead horse about what happened and victimizing ourselves.

Anyways, the concept of race is a very silly thing. We can all breed together. Really it is just an illusion separating people from one another and has been a tool for some time.

I agree, Blacks are people! Human beings! A White's blood is red and so is a Black's.

I honestly can't believe how low people were to them in the past. Sigh...
 
While there may still be a few racists left on this planet, it is not as prevalent as it used to be. Racism is wrong. We are all human beings, and discriminating someone based on their color is a little silly when one thinks of it. :p

Slavery is one of a few examples of racism of the past. However, we cannot keep our heads in the past; we must remain in the present day. We know better now (or at least, a good majority of us do) and so we will do our best never to repeat this abomination of human kind's past ever again.

On an educational note: anyone who is interested in the period of slavery that took past in America's past should watch Alex Haley's Roots. It is a very accurate depiction of that time period.
 
Yeah I disagree with it but why are you posting this now I thought that this month was Spanish month Ga why can I not think of the word right now.

Anyway yeah it is bad but I used to know some black people who would be racicest to whites and I think that is not right that they act that way. I think racesim is very wrong in any way towards anybody.

Now I know your religious (excuse me if I'm wrong), but what do you think of religion claiming themselves better than other religions. Saying, for example; believing in God gives you an afterlife in heaven (and of course being a good person etc). And eventually also other people would end up in h-e-l-l (stupid censored word ._.). That's racism too, isn't it? Judging on the base of how someone thinks.
 
I'm personally not a racist, but some people just seem to love to be hated via behavior and religion, turning people that are offended in proclaimed racists. Example: The immigrants from the middle east in the Netherlands are aggressive, not willing to adapt and more. Sure, we Dutch people are wimps when it comes to defending our cultural heritage (or what's left of it), but it doesn't mean they should take etc. etc. etc..
 
If you treat someone differently because of their skin color, who cares?
If you treat someone as if they are lesser than you because of their skin color then there is a problem.

People are different for a reason, and to say that I am the same as an Arab or an African American is wrong. I have no problem treating them as my equal, but we are not the same. "God created everybody equally" is not the truth "God gave everybody the same inalienable rights" is the truth.
 
Racism is nothing but making uneducated evaluations. Every race has it's own ups and downs. If you go to a football or especially basketball proffesional game, there is definently a race majority. If you go to a regional physics fair, you'll see a dominant race. I have yet to see a modern, and educated person to be racist. I think it is just a way for people with no life to feel better than others. We do have to remember that it was fairly hard not to be racist back in colonial days. When your parents, family, friends, and community all mistreat another race, very few will stand up for what they think, and it wouldn't do anything regardless. Now, racist people are the mildew on earths window, just wishing to have a purpose in life.

Watch the movie Roots. It's actually a TV series about 16 hours long, but it is very good. The author of a book (which the series is based on) traced his family 'roots' and put together the story of his heritage. It's very well done.

I agree. In my school, if you say "Black" in any context, someone will say "Racist!"

A more generalized form of this statement would mean that anybody who agrees that racism is bad should also agree that denying gays their rights is also bad.
 
rascism is bad stuff like this is created when people have nothing else better to do and think it`s funny then there freinds do it it`s happenened to me multi times bad school system roxbury go figures
 
Of course there is still racism, but did everyone really think the first African American President would completely change or eradicate racism? I certainly didn't think so. Racism will always be present in some form. I, personally, am not a racist because I wasn't brought up that way, but I do see adults that were and still hold on to that belief. Unfortunate, but true.

You do realize that there is quite a lot of "reverse" racism going on? By that, I mean that many black people voted for Obama JUST because he's black.

I personally don't care what the presidents skin color is. I don't like Obama. I wouldn't have liked him if he was white. Sadly, many people seemed to think that he should be the president, or has some special "power" JUST because he's black. :/

Similar situation happened in my city. Our mayor is a total idiot who would probably burn a city into the ground even SIMCity on easy level. People though it was so great that we would have a woman mayor. People were going on about the "historical event". 8 years later, everyone hates her guts, and cant wait for her to leave.

You are EXTREMELY ignorant of what Christianity (using that since based on your counterpoint, that seems to be your extent of "religion") teaches, and apparently moreso in relation to the concept of racism. They're two very different ideas, I don't really see the need to bring religion into it.
 
I was raised to know that everyone will be born equal, as everyone will die equal.

Ofcourse, I see others think different. A lot different.

And dmaster is right, there will always be someone out there who dislikes you for your skin, sadly.

I haven't heard anything so stupid coming from you in my life. Skin has nothing to do with religion. What you said is a mock and very disgraceful to the Christians. Don't bring 2012 to this thread please. You know what I mean. >: /

Racism means- Being a discriminator of RACE. Not being a discriminator of RELIGION.
