Raichu used to be a very prominent stage 1 attacker in the NXD-FLF format. It could OHKO Pyroar, Lugia, and Yveltal for just a DCE...and had free retreat. It made Virgen and Yveltal decks more versatile and had better outcomes against usually harder matchups.
But is it as good as is is, does the next BCR-FUF format kill raichu?
Some disadvantages:
>Fighting hype
>Losing Level Ball
>Pyroar still OHKOes
>Lugia and Yveltal are less prominent going into next season (TDK is doing better and dark patch rotating destroys yveltal decks).
With this in mind, who/what could replace raichu?

Raichu doesn't need to be replaced IMO just left alone.
 
I think it is a good tech nothing more, and if what you are teching against is gone from the format why keep it. Use the spot to tech against something that is being used a lot in your area.
 
Raichu is still a solid attacker. Yveltal will still be played and will still be a good deck. I think the plasma espeon good see some action, or posibly any of the other eveeloutions, a couple of them have pretty solid attacks for cheap energy costs.

It does one shot Pyroar for a DCE. I was actually thinking the OP meant the Plasma Beartic, but this one is probably better. It's not return KO'd by opposing Pyroar, and it's still a Stage 1, but that retreat cost though.
 
Also remember that safeguarders like suicune and sigilyph could easily one shot raichu. If raichu is a tech and is easily one shotted by the card its teching against then how good is it?
 
I don't think the weakness to fighting hurts it anymore than it did before (so easy to OHKO). It's a solid card, but I never liked it as an anti Pyroar card unless you play it along side lasers. I actually think Beartic is good for both similar and different reasons. It can attack for just a DCE and do solid amounts of damage, but you trade the free retreat of Raichu for better HP. Aside from it's obvious advantage against Pyroar, it can also take out Landorus (w muscle band or bangle) and will do 60 to a lot of other 2 retreat EXes (meaning a bangle allows you to 2 shot them).
